Fiat Mephistopheles (take 2)......

Sorry another long winded post 🤣

My problem with using brass and alloy rod/tube is i cant do much with it, even cutting it to length and square is a problem without some sort of lathe. I have therefore used styrene rod and even then i had to use a milling cutter in the mini pillar drill to machine the ends square. I did drill all the joint ends 1mm and have inserted hard wire pins so its all a lot stronger that it looks
I am quite lucky that if i stare long enough at a problem i can see the solution given all the limitations of my set up so this is what i did here...it just took a bit more staring to get it this time :)

I didn't want the cross bar going across the rad so i made 2 separate brackets for the mudguards and then a couple of tie bars to add rigidity. its all balanced here for the picture so its a bit wonky. All the weight on the front and the back of the Chassis is linked by just 2 chassis rails between engine and body. Its very weak at this stage till i get the underside body work fitted so i dont want to fix any more weight to the front at this stage. the lights are the spot lights from the Pocher Rolls, the main lights are way to big for this scale.

Once this is finished i will get round to getting rid of all the remaining business motorbike parts here, i have listed a lot of it on Ebay but most is too obscure for Ebay so i will have to bite the bullet and dump it i expect. Considering the amount of stuff i sold over the years, what i am left with is quite small so i will write it off. This i hope will create enough room for a lathe . My Model making ambitions have taken on a life of their own and i have no idea where i am going but i am finding i really like the challenge of adapting and altering more than OTB.

Is there another motorbike shop who would take the inventory off your hand?

Love this! I'm getting fed up with work lately, it's gotten to the point that we're just talking about what we're doing instead of doing. I'm tired of asking permission to do what needs to be done only for it to be talked to death. I could see myself sitting down and just modeling and piddling around the house and yard.

I like your solution Paddy, looks very plausible.

Bob. I know exactly what you mean. I was worried that when i retired i would not have a purpose. I have to admit i have never been a team player, I love to see my ideas and problems through and the thought of having to get permission to do so would be a huge turn off for me. Believe me you wouldn't be piddling around the house or yard :) but even if you were ! it would be because you wanted to . My guess is you too would find new purpose in what you do as retirement sets the mind free as it slowly dawns on you after a life time of rules and regulations and expectations......you live for yourself and not some corporation or other :) and basically its only "you stopping you" from doing whatever you want in life

While I am at the age that I should have retired probably 4 years ago, I still can't afford to. That should start changing next year and then hopefully within 3 to 5 years I will retire and move back to Oklahoma. As far as busy, I now have more work than I had several years ago and will probably be working half days on Saturdays till I don't know when. Luckily what I do is not hard (for me) nor strenuous, but it keeps the $$ flowing well and I do enjoy what I am doing.
