Italeri Fiat 806 GP racer 1:12

This is the magneto mount

the bit on the side supports the steering column .
The problem is is 3mm thick and dominates everything , 3mm equates to 36mm or nearly 1.5 inches !!! That's one hell of a bracket.

This how it mounts

So it sits ojn the gearbox which is correct. The magnetos sit on the middle layer . IOn the drawings i found thats where it stops, that top layer is not there on the real thing ?

Note also the height of the fluid reservoirs on the floor which i have already "adjusted"

top view shows the magnetos with nothing above but there is no steering column bracket in this view

the problem with engineering drawings is they usually show just one mechanism and to do tat all other items are deleted so you need the full set of drawings which i dont have but this pic also shows no upper layer top the magneto bracket

in my opinion italeri just invented this bracket to support the steering column , knowing it would normally be out of sight anyway.

anyway it is what it is and i am not going for total originality , just experimenting with different ways of doing things and aiming for a nice car
"loosely based" on a Fiat 806 rather than a accurate reference.
