Here is some shots of the vehicles in and around the diorama. I'm wanting to get the five blogs of Logistics closer together, so I took some random photos today.

Here are the staff car, two staff Jeeps and motorcycle escorts that will be carrying the generals. Patton's 3/4 ton Dodge will be among them.

These will be moving the rubble.

The Diamond T will be hooking up to the 2cm flak panzer to clear the road. The Road Grader will not be there, it will be with the dozer and dump truck.

It just comes alive. WOW.
James

Actually James, it won't truly come alive until the buildings are finished, all the rubble and accessories are in place, and the vehicles, populated with drivers and assistants. Then, when the figures are permanently affixed, then, it will come to life.

Thanks,

Bob

You'd think so Dave, but it seems the more I finish, the more I seem to have left to do. I'm enjoying it as always, but one day, I will look at it and think, WOW! I'm getting there! And then the next, I'll start on something and realize that there is still a lot more figures to paint, or vehicles to weather, or buildings to finish, and on and on.

Such is life in my world! :yipee

Then again, when i do finish it, I always have this empty feeling like I'm lost or something. I stay so long with these things over such long periods, that when they're finished, it's like having your child grow up and go on their own way.

Well, I have this huge box of rubble. I intend to use every ounce of it on this. Most modelers never put enough rubble in an urban setting. If you study pictures from WW II, it almost looks as though somebody trucked in more rubble than could have possible came from the buildings!

Yeah, lots and lots of rubble and dirt and dust, etc, etc, etc.

Thanks,

Yeah, for almost 10 years! :yipee

Logistics, trucks & Jeeps

Hmmmm, no new posts on this Logistics thread in five years. I've been going over my plans for Logistics again after quite awhile. One of the things I realized I would be needing to balance a particular street is another burned out wreck. The problem is that it has to be small as a larger vehicle won't work. So, I bought the kit of the Mercedes Benz 170 Staff Car from Miniart. I bought this, a few other figure kits and a ton of paint, about $300 worth from Top Shelf Models in Tulsa. There are no hobby shops in Springfield, Mo.. I haven't stocked up on paint in years. Anyway, I'm starting on this one which will be badly burned after driving onto the sidewalk and catching a round from a recoilless rifle.

More for painting and weathering, I always print out some color photos of burnt car wrecks. I've built enough wrecks I don't really need building references, but for painting, these have some nice effects that I can use on this model.

I like the colors on this one!

And this,

And, for the interior, Colors only as the seat structures and other things are totally different from cars built 70 years ago.

It's almost impossible to find clear color photos of burned out cars of the 1930s and 40s, but these will work color wise.

I have started on it, have it mostly built. I am working on the convertible top which will be only partial and/or skeletal as the cloth would be mostly burned away. I should have something to post by early next week.
