I have been making slow headway on this. The decals were a pain, but got them on. Now It is final paint, weathering, and detail work. Here is where the main part is now.

In the photos I am seeing weathering I have missed and it just stands out at me. I can get this upped to where I want it though. All the goodies are coming together As I wanted them.

Yes the underside is terribly dirty and these get that way. I have a color photo in flight of one of the repro Fw-190s and it is just about like this.

It's coming along well. The metal landing gear are mounted and aligned. The parts for the raising/lowering mechanisms were too short and had to be lengthened. I built up the rear canopy. It was a royal pain. Not well designed to assemble, but once together it looks like it should. The copper tubing for the four wing mount guns were copper so I put them in some Uschi blackening solution for a while. After drying them off they have that perfect gun color. Building the four antennas for the wings has been interesting. I suspect either I didn't get the tubing and wire to make them or misplaced it. Anyway some fine Albion tubing and fine stainless wire and all was good. The antennas are ready for paint and I still have to put paint on the prop. While it has a number of issues, I am fairly content with how it is turning out.

This is really getting close to done. So far I am content with it. The brownish weathering is a little strong, I would have liked it a little less prominent, but it was a first try with some new paints. There are several other items that I am not happy with, but could really do nothing about. Almost done and learned some new tricks.

I used some .002 inch brass wire for the two braces. Very fine stuff that bends real easy. Tried doing the Uschi blacken thing on it but it just wasn't taking so had to go in and use some paint on it. Took several light coats and extra care with the brush to keep from painting the underside of the canopy.

I am finding that I like the bigger kits more and more due to the amount of detail that can be added. Even 1/48th has too much limitation. I might try one of the old mold Eduard 1/48th Fw190's at some point, but for now am looking forward to jumping on a 1/32nd scale kit next.

Thanks Luiz! I finished it up tonight. Had four little parts to place and I wanted to redo the antenna cable. I didn't want to remove the cable from the canopy to the vertical fin, but I wanted to remove the white lumps for insulators and the part coming up from the fuselage. I replaced that part with fine wire and was able to wrap it around the nylon line as it was supposed to be. Then did the finer insulators. Looks fairly good. I will have photos tomorrow. Too late tonight.

OK, can't stand it have to post some photos. It's done.

Now to get my mess cleaned up and I can start a brand new build. Any guesses?

Very nice I took another look at my old trimaster kit and decided to bin it, no joy left there. I find it interesting how they did the dipoles, they normally have one set horizontal and the other set vertical on many other planes that I've seen photos of.

I pulled out my Revell 1/32 kit and did a quick double check on colors before doing them. I agree on the dipoles as others had them like the Do335 I just finished. This one had photos to agree as well so it is what it is.
The kit parts were a bit of a pain with the dipoles. Had to cut the wires then had to cut the tubing. I then had to square off the ends a little bit and make each set the same length (4 different sets). Then had to open up the holes in the mounts and center and align it all up. It was a pain, but it worked with a lot of patience.

Thanks guys! It felt good getting this one finished. I tried some things on it and learned a few new tricks. Overall it turned out OK, so I am satisfied with it. It wasn't a great kit, but it was buildable.
