A little update to this. I was able to sort out the gap. I razor sawed the front off and that took care of part of the problem, then mounted the gun cover flush with thback and then beveled the lower to match the top more closely up front. Not very scientific but it keeps with my "not gonna bust my balls on an aircraft" SOP.
A terrible picture but also started matching wings, looks to be a real knife fight in the future.
