Westland Whirlwind

Thanks Luiz and Dave .

Busy weekend but I managed to get in a couple coats of Gunze gray paint to simulate the early mixed gray.

I know ( does not look much different ) :idonno but that's what makes it a challenge to shoot .

Next will be masking and another coat of the green to sharpen the demarcations.

Cheers, Christian B)

Looking very good indeed, Christian - interesting isn't it that both the post Battle of Britain Luftwaffe and RAF experimented with 'mixed' greys for 'over the water' operations :hmmm

Ian.

Thanks Ian , Mike.

To be honest , I thought that the mixed gray had come about to meet the need of using the supply of sea gray and night black that was on hand , until a suitable supply of ocean gray could be obtained ???

At any rate, I find it very interesting the the USAF/USAFE has been changing their shade of gray from 1980 to the present day every available chance they get ... :facepalm
This has made the modeling crowd insane trying to duplicate the currents F-35/have glass shades :rotf

Personally , I think that the German RLM 80/81 would be perfect for Southern Germany

Just one picture today. I have reined the lines in on the gray & green paint.

It's going to need a bit of touch up but I'll put on a coat of Future in the AM and let everything cure for a while first.
