Yesterday i started messing about with a base for the truck. Rather than build a diorama as such the model needs a base because.
A/ the trailer is not permanently fixed to the truck, it just sits in place
B/ the trailer is not self supporting if you remove the truck and parts will break off if you let it rest on the ground especially with the weight of a tank on the trailer.
C/ The tank is tethered to the trailer with ropes and cables .shackles but these in scale plastic are not strong enough to actually hold the tank in place so you need to glue/fix the tank to the trailer.
I have used air drying clay but i have never done anything like this before so its a bit of an experiment. The clay will not be a finish, it just gives me the contours i want. I dont really want to add features as the desert is by its nature pretty featureless.
The Italeri Jeep i took a chance on looks to be a lot more comprehensive than the well known Tamiya version in so much as it has an engine and better underside detail so very pleased with this
