M3 Lee

Everything opened up. Why are view port open on the doors? Because I saw a photo of that on one of the reference sites and I just wanted to do it.
Got a lot more painting to do, touch up the parts that were added on last minute. D rings and the other tripod mount are all that's left, and antenna post...

I tried scuffin' up the track pads but it looks more like I just ran the dremal over some of the pads. I hated closing up the engine but I did. We know it's in there.

Thats looking really good MP. :vgood:Some nice weathering and contrast should make it pop! A figure sitting on that flat top with the legs hanging down would work nicely.

Chatting with Eric about that at lunch yesterday. I want to get a tank crew standing around it. I've searched some and the guys I see they look bundled up. The Carolina Maneuvers happened in Oct of '41. Not sure they would be in cold weather gear.

Got the last of my hurricane repairs done. The tin on the lean too on the back of the shed had pealed up, I remove a panel to get to the damaged one only to find it wasn't that damaged after all. It was just wedged back, unwedged it and it popped right back in place with a little bend.
While I was at it, one of the 4x4 that I used as the cross member to support the rafters (I know there's other terms in the carpentry world buy much like the nautical world, I don't know shit) that cross member had sagged pretty bad, probably 6 inches off center. I had a spare 4x4 because when I bought that stuff I couldn't count. Got it in place and as you see here it's got a wicket twist. So..I got 2 2x4 and sister them together with glue and screws. I know that might not meet approval from some but I don't care. It's better now.

Anyway I thought I would share my redneck farmer fix for rigging a support for the rafters while I replaced that cross member. My go to helpers are all lamed up trying to do young men's work so I couldn't call them in.

Took a 2x4 pushed up on a rafter which forced the other rafters up because they are attached to the perlons (or whatever) then used the step ladder to hold the 2x4 up. I didn't get a finished shot but it looks a lot better now.

And back to the Lee!

I got all the doodad parts on and a glossy clear coat to put the stickers on. Going to let that cure for a day or 2. :soldier
