Westland Whirlwind

You chose a Special Hobby kit... There is a reason most sane people don't choose Special Hobby.

I will light a candle and say a prayer you survive this ordeal.

Light several , I could use them . If this was a Biblical story it would no doubt be found in Lamentation. :(

On the other hand , this kit is one of their better kits from them and it is way better than the ancient Airfix version.

I previously tried to make prop spinner from the Airfix kit fit this one but the dimensions and shapes are very different  but frankly the SM. version has a better shape.

It's definitely not a Tamiya for sure but it would be nice to have a decent Whirlwind :frantic . Definitely not a Manya either :rotf . Old as those are .

Cheers, Christian B)
Sux about the canopy I so wish Airfix will make a new mold of it

I would have also before I got this far. Now, I would like to finish this one.... :soldier

Who know about the canopy ? I have not pried off the one off the Airfix to check the dimensions.

Anyway, I have yet to hear the fat lady sing :coolio . Cheers,

The latest but not the greatest

Got flustered and sent S.H. for an update on my request .

I shortly got an answer ( I think from a woman ) that the rest of the crew was out doing a show and would be back in a few days.

That means that while these people were here at the IPMS National , nothing was going on at their shop..... :smack
head

Oh well, I just be patient and keep tinkering with this old kit in the meantime. :soldier

I'm sure they'll come through! How long did it take for your replacement props and spinners to arrive?

Not really that long Warren, once the kit was in a production run.

For me, the annoying part is that they don't acknowledge the receipt of the request unless you email them and inquire.

With today's communication capabilities, I like to get an acknowledgement that we did in fact communicate.

I hope the next piece is proper.

Meanwhile i'm tinkering with something else :D

How about you contact them directly in the Czech republic?

I had a Problem with an Eduard Bf. 110 (missing the Radar in the box) and they were very helpful. I called them directly and within days the replacement had arrived. Maybe worth a try.

Thanks for the help Alex . I have messaged a lady ( ? ) a couple of times and she assured me that the part was in the mail.
She also stated that most of them did not speak English, so chances are we would of both been scratching our heads since I have no idea about the Czech language .

Some patience :zen is necessary :) ( that's why I'm working on something else ) :rotf

Some music to wait by...!

The replacement canopy has arrived :D . Now , a dip in Future .

More soon. Cheers, Christian B)

Thanks Bob , Barney . I'm excited . There is one small flaw in it, but I'm hoping it will go away after the Future Bath .
Edges cleaned off and now soaking till morning. Very hard and brittle plastic :good:

Cheers
