Double D's :)

Wasn't sure (that) it was possible, but your weathering seems to have gotten better, Les.

Thanks guys, much appreciated!

I guess this Do 335 was parked in a tough neighborhood, the wheels were nicked.

She's got legs! ;)

The landing gear legs have been attached, after they are 100% dry I will need to do a little touch up on them with RLM 02 and when that's dry I will coat them with Future so I can later add a pin wash with oil paint to make some of the detail pop.
As usual with my models the oleo portion of the landing gear legs will get painted with Chrome Silver after the final clear flat coat just before the wheels are added...the exception on this model is the nose wheel which needed to be glued in place before final painting could be done.

Fantastic painting job as always :notworthy ... the minimal painting details are very well represented...all in all , a truly masterpiece (y)

Best!

Thanks guys!

Yes the Do 335 was a big aircraft, so big in fact that it must have used up a lot metal to build and metal was a material in which the Germans were starting to run out of by 1945. Not sure the Do 335 was a good choice to try and mass produce even if it was the fastest propeller aircraft in the ETO.

I did some work with oil paints to add a pin wash to the wheel wells and landing gear legs, here are some snaps of what I did...keep in mind I prefer to have oil washes very restrained on my models for a more natural appearance.

Some dirt/mud was added the inside of the nose wheel mud guard.

Thanks Luiz and Christian!

The pin wash should be more easily seen after the flat clear coat is on, the landing gear legs are still very glossy and I had trouble getting acceptable pictures to show the work I did because of so much light reflection.

Thanks Bob and Duke!

Its on its legs now...but the main wheels are just pressed into place for the pictures. The wheels won't be added until after the flat clear coat is sprayed on, this way I can paint the oleo portion of the gear legs chrome silver and have them look bright and shiny.

As you can see the special anti-bomber armament is mounted under the wings.
