Bomber Command II

Hmmmmm Just got the Tamiya 1/32 Mossie to go with my HK mossie. Decals for a 418 Sqn RCAF bird also.

Maybe I missed it, but would an aircraft like an A Skyraider, or say an A-10 Thunderbolt or Soviet SU-25 Frogfoot be included?

I believe this is what Ian had in mind. "I was thinking more of 'traditional' multi engine types...surely there's enough choice there isn't there ??"

Let's strive to conform to the build and not make the build conform to our stash. :rotf

GOT IT! Hey it never hurts to ask, but yes, there are plenty to choose from!

Decision made !!

Will order some Eduard masks, there's no way that I'm going to try and cut wee squares and rhomboids out of Tamiya tape... And whilst I'm at it, why not invest in a Techmod decal sheet (just £4.60 @ Hannants), so I can do a North Africa based machine :hmmm ).

Have to admit I was 'this close' to buying a Lancaster !!

Ian.

Well, my initial thought was to go with the He 177 however over the past day or so I have been all over the map considering possibilities. Bombers outnumber all other kits in the stash by at least 3 to 1 and I currently have my own bomber command group build in progress with two twins on the bench right now. I'm currently leaning towards the Tamiya Betty but that may change before all is said and done, there is still an Il-4 and Tu-2 calling my name. Decisions, decisions :idonno

Still haven't decided on what I'ma gonna do for this build yet... :idonno  Think I got an A-3J-1(A-5A) VIgilante hiding, the RA-5C Vigilante. Have a couple A3D Skywarriors... Both were designed as bombers but, were used in other roles. Now, I do have a 1/72 B-24J :hmmm decisions, decisons... :frantic :bang head

While I have the huge HK B-17 kit, that is going to be much more than I could handle with everything else going on. I have a bunch of the older Dragon 1/48 Ju88 kits, but should finish my Revell build before messing with one of those. Have Revell's He111 P kit but again want to finish the Ju88 A1 before going after that one.

However!

I have Trumpeter's Savoia Marchetti SM79 in 1/48 that would be a nice build and something a bit different. I have always liked the SM79 so I think that will be my build for the BC-II.

I say we start this next month and let it run for 15 months. That should give everyone time to do a project. As a insentive every completed build gets a front page photo spread.

Lets do it! :yipee That Heinkle has been giving me the evil eye lately.....

....and 15 months gives me plenty of time to work that kit, plus all the shelf of doom riffraff!

Which Heinkel :idonno

I'm not thrilled with the marking options in this kit but I'll solve that when I get there...

:D :D :D Go for it . I like the HE 177 but have never seen the MPM built before . Should either be very cool (y) or very brutal :fencing

Cheers, Christian B)

I have one of those He177 kits in the stash but am saving it for a later time. I also have the 1/48 Trumpy Fw-200 Condor kit but it wasn't considered a bomber if I remember correctly. I could also jump on the WNW Gotha, but don't want to jump on it quite yet.

I've heard this kit isn't that bad, but the hi-tech version has a ton of resin and photo-etch, plus I'm adding the resin weapons bay, so my guess is closer to brutal. Thanks goodness I'll have 15 months! :zen

Ha, didn't even know they had a high tech version .

I have built some 1/72 high tech MPM's and must admit that other than having some extra detail they were not all that wonderful .

I hope this one works out good for you.

I have the Revell 1/72 newest version but I'm not ready to commit to that one yet. I have built two others version in the past . Neither was great but buildable.

Cheers, Christian B)

My dream for this campaign is a Dornier Do 17 from Airfix , new tooling :eek:ldguy ... Unfortunately I do not have it yet... :idonno

It's the 1:72 RoG kit that came-out in 2013 (I think), as it turns-out I don't need to invest in a decal sheet as the Kagero book has one with L1+OK in three scales !! - I really wanted to do one in 1:48, but finances wouldn't allow for that, shame, but need to be a 'grown up' sometimes.

Ian.

So we got 12 votes and y'all want to start on Oct1, is that right?

Yep I believe that's what the idea is, finishing 31 Dec 2016.... Sort of a Modelers Alliance version of Wagner's Ring !!. I may even do a second project - which means I could get a 'bar' for my campaign medal !! :hmmm

Talking of campaign ribbons, is there any reason why we can't use the one from Terry's first Bomber Command campaign in 2011, suitably adapted, of course.

Ian.
