D-Day P-47

Great progress Bob!!! :popcorn (y)

hmm :hmmm I will see, not very shiny and how heavy the weathering should be I will see... I have some spare decals so have to look at the reference photos ;)

All the best!
Dusan.

Don't need to tell you because I KNOW that you KNOW this.... But Alclad isn't a Dark Art, it's simply the coincidental co-ordination and manipulation of tools, technique, experience, patience and atmospherics...

No Biggie :gogo

Dusan, what I want to do is basically what happened in real world. Nice shinny aircraft comes out the factory door with a mirror finish, and a bird poops on it... :rotf

I want to get nearly a chrome finish, like I did on the Thunderjet (sans blemishes) but come back with some moderate to heavy weathering. You can still see the shine but you can tell it's been used.

Or if that don't work out, go OD... :facepalm

When talking to Mike on the phone today, he told me about how to change your spray pattern to get good coverage.

by that do you mean spraying in an + and X pattern as opposed to straight lines Bob?

I do the = and x patterns for max coverage all the time.

Now, leave that darned '47 alone for days! before you even think about the BMF!!!

Hows your weather temps there? if cold add a few more days.

Go put it in a closed display unit and forget about it until that black is set like cement. (y)

Will do Phil. What I did was just a = then ||. It did break up those patterns I would see.

Very cool here but the garage is heated so no problem there. It'll be about two weeks before I touch it again.

GIT SOME DAMNIT!!

This is without seal coat. Sprayed some Future over it and it looked like it hazed up a bit. not going to freak...going to let it cure and check it out in the am. :drinks

I owe you an apology Chris, just told Mike that I was waiting on you telling me it's not realistic...:rotf

I could if you would like me too  However I have seen one that that did the circuit that looked about like so.

Can't see it in WW II though. Is the landing gear on yet ? :rotf

Cheers, Christian B)

Ok Bob how long did you let the Alclad cure before you sprayed the future over it??

curious to know if the Alclad paint smell decreases as it dries, like the Tamiya A/S and T/S rattle sprays, the longer you leave it the harder the paint gets and the paint smell decreases to nothing.

Nothing against your painting methods but I sometimes wonder if you don't let each paint step fully cure with your Alclad builds, even if it is recommended to leave for a day or two I would double or even triple the dry time - it's a worry if that high shine wasn't properly cured before the future was sprayed on.

I know your luck when you tackle Alclad!

Following your build very closely! fingers X it's ok this time
Looking very cool ! (y)

Phil I want instant gratification! Yeah I probably don't let it cure up enough. I think, thought I read somewhere that the metal coat of Alclad could be sealed immediately, could be wrong. will find out how it looks when I leave for work here shortly.

:bang head Bob! you are your own worst enemy!!!!

Well looks like I'm going to hound you on your Alclad builds from now on!!! let that dry out !

I really want to see you have a win win situation !!

Idea for you - go buy a time lock !! :D
