Yeah but what did that unit fly? Anyways I like the mud so my vote would be bombs. I must say though that that old lady gets around a lot :rotf

OK someone explain this shit!

Masked off the area that will have the stripes. Sprayed some Humbrol Flat White, thinned with Humbrol thinner.

This is on top of CURED Future, Been curing for well over two weeks.

What happened I notice the paint was beading up, well not really beading up, more like the undercoat was not dry when the top coat was added, you know? See what I mean in the second picture?

So I attempted to wash away the bad paint but this is what I got.

This redneck can't catch an even break...:bang head

Tamiya Primer, Tamiya Gloss black, AlcladII Chrome topped off with Future.

I'm just doomed....:bang head

BTW, the underside looks fine :idonno

It looks like the Humbrol thinner bit into the Future. I have to ask why you didn't use an acrylic paint for the stripe?

Because I couldn't find any white acrylic. You mean Humbrol thinned with Humbrol is too hot for Future?

It would appear so. I've never seen a reaction like that with Tamiya paints or with the Model colors by Vallejo. :idonno

That's it...I'm done. Boxed up to the shelf of doom sitting on top of the B58 Hustler.

Pulled back some of the low tack Tamiya tape...you know the rest of the story.

fed up!

Going to work on the Fokker now.

Thanks Ryan but save those :zen

I'm good with what I've done on this.

I got a Tamiya P47 over the weekend...:pilot

Damn Bob, that's just cruel

A suggestion for you if you ever do another for a masking solution,

https://www.google.com.au/search?q=cling+wrap&client=firefox-a&hs=msy&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:eek:fficial&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=I3iwUuuYEKGuiAem-4Bw&ved=0CHAQsAQ&biw=1255&bih=875#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=-WJHU4It_8XC2M%3A%3B6r0H_-KzYWRvlM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.glad.com%252Fimages%252Fproducts%252FGLD_CW_100sqft_frt_0512_VS.png%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.glad.com%252Ffood-storage%252Fplastic-wrap%252Fpress-n-seal%252F%3B400%3B262

you can pull this tight around the areas and hold the join with regular mask tape not sticking it to the Alclad, this should solve your paint lift.

At a loss why the humbrol caused that severe cracking, one would look at the Future top coat not liking the thinner, i use Tamiya thinners for Humbrol, but have never sprayed paint over Future.

When you are ready, test it, alclad painted plastic strip primed the same as you did, half futured half not, segment the strip then put one drop of Humbrol thinner, one drop Tamiya thinner on each segment and see which gives that result.

Hope you work it out as that 47 was looking sweet.
