WIP Double Duty

I know exactly what you mean, Tony! I have tomorrow off and the day will fly by, but I have to be at work early Monday,so bed early. I can tell you now, I'll lay in bed, rolling the ideas thru my pointed little head, until I get NO sleep!

As far as the builds go, the words of Ralph Cramden come to mind "A hummana, hummana, hummana!" :woohoo:

Hi Mike. As you get older time flies by anyway but when I sit down at that bench I dare not look at the clock on the wall. :eek:hmy:

And Ruben I thank you too. I know they'll be winners to me just to get them finished and on the shelf but if some of the folks like them that's just icing on the cake. :woohoo:

It's a GREAT Hobby

They have a shirt at the local T-shirt shop (Pirate related)
that says:

"Time Flies, when you're having Rum".

Got to love it.. :woohoo: :silly: :eek:hmy:

With the M7 nearing completion i've gone back to finish this one. The storage box will be grey painted wood and to give it the worn and weathered look i'm going to do the hair spray trick on it.
I sprayed it with MM "Wood" today and tomorrow i'll smear on a coat of "Raw Umber" oil.

Check back if interested and Thanks for looking.
Tony Lee:)

That, will be cool. I understand what you're doing to get the wood effect, but the hairspray method, you doing a whitewash?

Nope,no white wash. To get a weathered or worn painted wood effect the hair spray can have the same effect Pup,you'll see.

Tony Lee:)

great, great, great! i still stick to my earlier statement about this marder: such a beautiful work on such an ugly looking machine! can't wait to see the marder finished tony! :mpup

Thanks folks.
Luiz if you like off the wall and not main stream stuff here's another one in the works.

Me again but this time with step #2 of painting the stowage box on the Marder II D.

I let the wood base coat dry over night so today a coat of "Raw Umber" oil right out of the tube is applied.
100_0759.jpg

Let the oil pigments soak into the base wood color and after say 35 or 40 minutes we're going to wipe most of it back off leaving a thin film of oil so we can take a stiff brush and create a grain effect.

I'll put the model under a photo light for the rest of the day to get the drying process started while I work on another build.
The oil needs to dry for a few days before sealing with "Future" then the hair spray.

Appreciate you watching my efforts.
Tony Lee:)

TONY,

Yeah ! That box is SoooWeet ! Great Job.

Do you use any other colors as your Base for Wood ? Have you ever tried Tamiya's Wooden Deck Tan ? I've used it for some tool handles. I thought it really jumped. the colors your have going on right here look really good as well !

ERIK

Oh yeah Eric I use a lot of different base colors to vary the color of wood.
The wife don't believe it but variety is the spice of life.:woohoo:
