Hey Gang,
Just picked up the New Boxed by Tamiya 37015 Italeri kit. Here's my thoughts on this oldie, first I will say that this old kit for a 70's kit is still nice today out of the box in my opinion. Ok first thing I noticed was that either Tamiya or Italeri has changed the tire material the original kits the tires were a hard shiny vinyl type material. These tires are packed separately in a bag and are a bit softer and not shiny but dull colored it sure looks like the at least they tried to solve those old melting troubles. This kit has three new figures all Tamiya the old Italeri figs still present should be scrapped , the newer Tamiya multi piece DAK officer type figure is very nice the other two appear to be a tree from the Tamiya Famo kit a driver and a sitting guy not the greatest figs but much better than the Italeri ones. This kit has a new folded tarp and riggers, the riggers are OK useable, the folded tarp is poor and the only improvement from old is that the old was very poor like zero detail. The kit also has a tree of the older Tamiya German weapons set , I think they mostly included these for the Mg 34 Arial defense tripod, one note I never liked these weapons in the old days as they seemed to have poor pouring seams the seams did not meet properly offset. These newer ones in my kit that old offset seems to have been fixed and they appear much better than the old ones. The decal sheet seems a bit smaller than the old kit dealing mostly as African markings the older set had more variety. I have always thought for its age that this kit is still a very nice kit the tires and the tarp being the big bads ,seem they at least tried to fix those.I think with the Eduard set and tires from Hussar or Tank Workshop you can make a very nice model even at today's standards. You can also get the Royal Model set for this nice tarp and lots of PE but very expensive.Well that's about all I can think of for this quick report hope it helps some people.Feel free to email me if you wish on it.
