Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

This photo is what interested me, a drone firing an MA-31 missile... so what? SO WHAT? That is the American copy of the KH-31 soviet missile! That's what!

Regards,

Hmmm, I believe there are pilots in that plane. Unless my eyes deceive me, it looks like there are helmets in those cockpit seats. Maybe they are just observers watching from the pilots view to see how the missile performs from the pilot's perspective.

Still, it is a cool shot! Do you plan on adding that Soviet missile to the rack when you build this?

Mark, there are pilots in this aircraft. It was used for testing. The rear cockpit has a full set of controls too. when the time comes, they ship out the aircraft to wherever it was needed (I saw one in Puerto Rico) and flown remotely to its demise.

Well, I have a problem, the Bureau Number 153030 was built as an F-4B with the thin wings, shorter engines, and so on. The kit I have is of the F-4J with thicker bulged area wings, longer exhausts (not a problem as I have resin replacements) different nose, and so on.

Oh well! Must get an F-4B

Excellent Saul. Thanks for the clarification. I was thinking for some reason that it was being flown as a drone in that pic while it was launching the missile.

Well, the final Christmas presents finally arrived and here they are.

I had some Christmas money to spend so I went to Harbor Freight and picked up the following. I gotta go back for more:

Except where is the Toothy smile?

Aftermarket once I ensure I have the parts for the variants I find decals. Messed myself up with the 72nd scale sheet which needs the F-4B/N yet Academy doesn't make that kit yet.

Would love to find the sheet for one of these though:

After being inspired by Randy Ditton's GT40, I had to get one close to my scale. I had one years ago and gave it to my son. ..Now, I have another. Gary S.

Arrived this morning from the 'old country'.

Don't often post in this thread unless it's something I'm really enthused about, and I'm VERY enthused about this. Won't be able to touch it for a while because of the impending house-move, but when it does hit the bench, it will be alongside the Hasegawa B-26 Marauder - a double twins build !!

I had a similar thought, Dave, so bought this a couple of months ago in preparation. All I need now is a Montex or Eduard mask set...

Last night at my IPMS club meeting, I picked up this little jewel in the raffle:

There's a lot more P/E in this tiny model that I expected! It's gonna be a bit of a challenge...

I'll be interested to see how this builds up Mark. I've picked up a couple of IBG kits but haven't built them. Are you going to start it soon

New reference book:

I bought this only for the decals to use on my Great Wall Hobby F-15C. There is a release with these decals but, at $94USD, I thought this was more prudent.

If anyone wants the kit, with the Great Wall Hobby decals, for $10USD (plus shipping), let me know.
