I won these for only $25USD each on a Facebook acution group. The PE along is worth it and both have pretty nice interiors to use on other kits.

Received 3D printed turret and Polsten 20 mm gun breeches for a Skink anti-aircraft tank from Shapeways. They are printed in Frosted Ultra Detail plastic. The turret is designed to fit the Asuka/Tasca M4's. I happen to have one of those on the bench and the turret ring is approximately 0.2 mm larger than the opening in the upper. A little work with the sanding stick will fix that. The turret is also available sized to the Dragon M4. The Polstens are available with printed barrels but the seller didn't recommend them as they have a tendency to warp. Brass tube was recommended.

The exterior is fairly smooth and may only need some light sanding in a few spots. The "blotches" are on the interior of the turret but don't affect the surface finish. It is caused by the support wax that keeps the printed part from collapsing during the printing process.

That is an awesome score Rich! I wonder of they have that same turret in 1/72 scale. I wouldn't mind having a Skink in my collection.

Saul, that blanket is a scream! LOL! :woohoo: :rotf I don't blame you for returning it.

Nice haul on this new kits too.

That skink is very cool!

I picked up this ugly French bird from the Special Hobby Azur 50% off sale. Been wanting it for awhile but couldn't find it for less that $90. Got it for $28

I got some decals as well, thinking a German or British scheme (plane 3, 7 or 8)!

I just got in some am parts for my Sd.Kfz. 222 which I hope to build sometime in the next few months. A new gun, tires and width markers. I also got in some .5mm plastic rod. I have the idea to use it for the tensioning wires in the cockpit of my WNW kits as an alternative to drilling tiny holes and using line and anchors.
As an afterthought and on impulse I also added the new Bronco Kruppe Protze kit to the basket. WOW, this is not the Tamiya kit of eons ago. It should be a challenge and hopefully fun. It has the usual Grey scheme but even better it has a multi colour scheme from the 3rd Panzer Division in Berlin in 1938 and a very cool Royal Hungarian scheme also. The gun looks like a jewel.

I went into the local hobby shop Saturday and found these.

I didn't realize just how big the X-15 really is. The fuselage is halved in the box. Should be an interesting build.

The Maus has always been on my list, but when Takom came out with their new kits it was only going to be a matter of time until one got put in the stash.

On a positive note there are a couple of Utube videos of the remaining tank in the Kubinka museum.

They climb inside though there isn't much left inside. The Russians stripped it out, but at least the tank still exists.

Last Sunday I was at the Pasadena Valleycon and was able to win the following raffle prizes:

One of the last prizes available near the end of the raffle so I grabbed it:

Since George had model railroading going on, he added some railroad accessories to the raffle:

Now I have enough buildings to build a small town! LOL!

I spent the rest of my birthday money in the vendor room but was only able to buy these two models:

Now that I have that second Death Dealer, I can start building that one and preserve my San Diego Comicon exclusive!

The next day, I found this package in my mailbox from James:

Thanks James! Now to figure out what version to do. Man, I want two more now! LOL!

Finally, my AMPS club met at Brookhurst Hobbies where I got to use my Brookhurst Hobbies Gift Card to help purchase this:

Well, that's it for now. I'll be busy for awhile just working on some of these. I did start some of them; you'll see them in the "What's on the Workbench?" Thread.

Okay, now back to the bench.....

Funny story about that Kubinka Maus. Larry from Pegasus Hobbies went there with an assistant to get pics and measurements to make the most accurate 1/72 scale Maus kit as possible. They took extensive pics and measurements all over, went back and developed the first molds and got back the first test shot. Looking it over, Larry noticed a small raised circle on the engine deck of the hull and wondered what it was. The pics they had taken showed it but they didn't indicate why it was there or what it did. So, he flew back out to Kubinka, went to the Maus, reached out and grabbed the raised circle lying there and pulled. Turns out it was one of the retaining discs to hold one of the wheels in place on the axle. Someone had removed it and placed it on the engine deck and left it there. So, Larry told me; if I wanted to build the most accurate Maus out there, I needed to shave off the circle piece, shift it a half a millimeter back and re-cement it down! :woohoo: :eek:hyeah

Looking forward to seeing some of these started soon!

I ran across another Utube video by World of Tanks also about the Maus. They want to get it running again.

Sprue shots from the P-51B kit.

Overall very clean moulding, fine engraved panel lines. Between KP and AZModel they have released the P-51B/C and Mustang III with and without fin fillet and with standard or Malcolm hood. The versions with the fin fillet require surgery to change the tail. These are short run kits so there are no locating pins. The Mustang III kit includes tear drop 75 gal external fuel tanks.

Separate flaps and rudder. The rudder balance has a panel line thru it that needs to be filled. Wheel well follows the opening shape.
