Bf 109-g-6

My current 109 kick started because i got this set of HGW models Positive Rivets decals.

OK, a note about this stuff.

It has a protective layer of thin paper on it, remove the paper and soak the sheet with the carrier film to transfer right?

3 times now while removing the protective paper the carrier film comes up with it. First time, I soaked the sheet and then noticed all the little rivets floating around before I realized what happened. But this is a flaw in the delivery method of this stuff.

I'll use what I can, see what happens but I would not invest in this stuff again. Neat idea but just not worth the effort.

So I'm trying to apply these post base paint.
Here you see the carrier film.

I seem to have better success with a glossy surface. I didn't notice any rivets that did not transfer.
I do see the rivets that went south forward of the wheel well, they will disappear before I'm done. :D

You know, these things would look great on a NMF bird.

What do the instruction say Bob ? Normally decals are made to be applied on a smooth surface .

Alright...this fits no campaigns so let's git'er done.

Not sure what markings she'll take but here we go.

Hey Bob,

Sorry for getting a bit late to your thread, again I have been rather absent.

I do have a sheet of Italian Bf-109 G Decals in 1/32, which I will never - ever - use. If you want them... I only have to find them in my stash, I can scan and send it your way per E-Mail. If you are interested than I will send the decals per post.

Let me know. These were decals from Stormo which I got as a prize, but 1/32 is unconceivable for me.

Cheers

Alex

Thank you for the offer Alex but I doubt I'll use them myself. I'm pretty far down the road to change up the scheme. Next 109 I have is an Emil that James sent me with all sorts of goodies in.

Ok. I will make a scan when I find it and perhaps create a Topic (tell me if it is appropriate). These decals will just get ruined, I will never use them. Perhaps someone can put them to good use.

Alex

It may just be me, but I think these look pretty good. I didn't see any carrier film or any messed up rivets forward of the wheel well. Perhaps once they get pant on them that will all be resolved.

You are doing a magnificent job on this big bird. I commend you for your persistence and excellence.

Great progress on this project, even if it does feel like a long journey.
I remember running into those wet transfer marking on an HPH kit Ta 154, no matter what I did I could not get a good adhesion of those markings... my opinion, I don’t like them!
Again though, great work!

Good to know Chris, not just me. These I installed over the weekend seem to do much better over gloss than over primer.

Ran into more issues of the carrier film separating from the backing paper on the second sheet. Just too many issues with this stuff.

I would advise against purchasing this product. Think they really would do better just coming out with lines of rivets for us to use as we see fit.

:eek:hmy: Definitely better to know now :good:

If these rivets turn out like I'm thinking, I'm going to get a couple of Luftwaffa mechanics looking it over with the caption "you count the rivets!" :rotf

Got the starboard side done, letting it cure then see how it comes off. :pilot
