I decided that it would be easier to just make new stairs to the gun deck than try to cleanup the kit's poorly molded ones. So I made a simple jig to aid in gluing them up.

For some inspiration I took the big thing outside for an overall pic of the work so far...

It's time to think about the ship's boat's, and what to do about them? The kit doesn't have any hanging from davits over the gallery and quarter galleries, but lots of documentation says they were in1812. I also read that those boats were originally gigs, or cutters. (Replaced by a double ended designed late in 1812). I have the gigs so I'm using them. Lots of work ahead to get them ready.

Disregard the entire last post on "no davits"! I didn't look far enough into the instructions. They're added in the rigging plans.

I deviated from the ship's boat's to get the headrails, boomkins, and catheads on, as well as the taffrails. It was a long day! There was a lot of time (about 12 hrs) spent tweaking these parts to fit properly.
