1/32 P-38M "M" for madness

If the scrapes are on the outside, before you try sanding sticks try some colgate tooth paste. The white stuff, not a gel. Use a soft cloth and just polish as if polishing boots. Less chance of causing stress fractures. Then clean well and use future. If you use sanding sticks while its mounted you might end up in a worse place. If you can take it off then fill with plasticine and the stix would be a better option. Just my thoughts on it.
James

MP and James, thank you both. Most of the scratches are inside. And I'm afraid I cant get the framework out that is glued in. Thus cant get to the scratches. I wont even try to contact Trump or Stevens. Everone I know that has tied to get a replacement from either, has never heard from them, or was just refused for one excuse or another. But I have 2 possabilities going on right now, just waiting to see if either works out. Will keep you all posted......Harv :S

Well, there is a GOD....at least a modeling god. Thanks to someone here( whom I will not mention, unless he lets me) I should be receiving a new windshield hopefully in not to long a time. Spent a good part of the day paining pit parts( some with a brush that makes you go cross-eyed) I'll post a few pics maybe tomorrow.....Harv :silly:

Good news, I got some painting done today. Some with a brush that makes you cross-eyed! Had to stop for the day. Enjoy, and don't forget to leave feedback....Harv :silly:

Fantastic looking IP Harv, that will look great under that crystal clear canopy that's coming from far off lands, I'm willing to bet.

I got a part for my first Wildcat from Stevens pretty quickly a while back, also Revell came through for me on the VooDoo.

Thanks MP. But I need to let you guys know, the IP is a multitude of Eduard parts. Not my work other than glueing and a little paint. But I appreciate the complements....Harv :silly:

Harv, I'm going to be honest, the more I work with the Eduard stuff the more I grow to dislike it. Inaccurate and not well designed, wrong colors were used on the Wildcat IP, can't say about anything else yet.

I'm currently working on the gun bays and flaps of the Wildcat and I'm questioning if both sets can exist on the same wing because some of the support for the flaps has to be removed so the guy bay will fit.

That, and the more I work with Voyager, Griffon and Lion's Roar PE for armor stuff makes me wish they did more aircraft stuff. You can't solder Eduard PE.

So, in short, your IP looks great!

I do agree with you, sir. But its the only game in town. I try to incorporate both resin and PE so I get the best of both, since one alone doesnt make it, IMHO, know what I mean? I wish more companies would do PE. It is a medium that does well in this scale............Harv :silly:

Hi Harv,

Whatever your part in that instrument pannel was, it worked great: excellente job, mate!

In fact, your whole build is just awesome: I can only wish that someday I'll be able to do something like you P-38M...

Cheers and thanks for sharing your work!

I'm very excited today. I finished up the front wheel well, and I think it came out pretty good. The first pic (I know, its a bad pic)is the bottom of the back wheel well bulkhead. Later model 38's had a canvas boot the covered some of the hydraulics to keep runway dirt, gravel, or coral out and prevent damage. Jerry Rutman sent me this piece(at no charge I might add). Simple cut the bottom half off and glue this nice little sucker on. One of the great things I like about this piece, is it has the hyd. cylinder molded in. Just drill and add the push rod for the door. Second pic is a shot of the completed well. Wheel and hub just stuck on. Again the wheel is Jerry Rutman. I cant say enough about his stuff.
All coments welcome......Harv :silly:

Looks good Harv, I'd say it looks great but can't tell from the first picture. :mpup

It's really nice having such great people in this business. Do you know Jerry Rutman?

I'll see if I can get a better pic, but it is buttoned up. I have talked to Jerry on the phone a couple of times. We both seam to have more than a passing interest in P-38's. He is building a P-38E that he scratched just about the whole plane. It is a fantastic build! You can see his build over on LSP. We do talk often on the LSP forum. Great guy..............Harv :silly:

As promised, a better pic of the rear well. Also, a pic of almost done seat belt. Unlike PE, this is done by Radu of RB prod.and is a "paper" product with PE buckles. A bit fiddly, not as bad as PE and (I think) much nicer. Again, all comments welcome.............Harv :silly:

Well, I finally got my windshield.Thank you very much Saul!! Cleaned it up and dipped in future. I wont touch it for a couple of days. I'm still trying to finish the seat harness for the front seat. Maybe some pics by the weekend.....Harv:silly:

Looking good Harv. I love the Radub belts. I think the only one that is really tedious is the Brit belts with all the little grommets. One day I'll have to get a Lightning.
James

Thank you James!. Yes, his stuff is top notch. But for me they are a bit fidly. Not as bad as PE though. I have been toying with it for several evenings. 10 min here 15 min there. So it is slow going. I hope to get back to the windshield by the weekend, we'll see...........Harv :side:

Beautiful job, dirtball!

Your attention to detail is simply amazing! You were right when you chose the name of the Thread, 'cause only people a little "mad" could pull this kind of build off.
