1/32 P-38M "M" for madness

Re:1/32 P-38M

Harv, you posted after my beddy time...I'll be sure to check this when I get off work. Not boring at all!

so far so good. It you see that you can add a ledge (from scrap plastic) to the inside covering the resin to plastic gap. it will strengthen the joint and not let the resin piece fall into the kit. The plastic ledge would fuse to the plastic wing sections. Cyanoacrylate glue has very little shear strength.

Not boring at all.

Regards,

not much of an update. I think I'm done with fitting the radar pit to the fuse. This here mess will(hopefully) become the main office. Wish me luck.....Harv

Still getting all the bits cleaned up and sanded. Hope to start painting the bits soon. I need to give Jerry Rutman a big THANK YOU for the resin bit he sent (at no charge) for the rear pannel of the front landing gear bay. Looks great!! When I get some pics together, I'll be sure and include it. Speaking of Jerry, I'm using his P-38 build as my referance for my pit(on LSP). Hang in there kiddies, I'm still plugging away....Harv :silly:

My gosh, man. Are you insane? This is not the least bit boring!!!

Simply amazing to watch you work. Bravo! Harv, Bravo!

Yo Harv...

... where have you gone?!? I need my P-38M fix!!!

Guys and gals, sorry I haven't been posting lately. Working 6 nights a week and sleeping all day, doesn't leave much bench time. I have managed a few minutes here and there. I'm still sorting the pits out. Trying to combine some Eduards stuff to Jerry Rutmans nice resin stuff. Getting ready to start some paint on the pit parts. Thank you all for your interest. It does keep me going. Will post pics when I get something together.....Harv :silly:

Small update: this is where I stand. Got some of the PE glued to the resin pieces. Just a start. Sorry, this is it.............Harv :silly:

I hoped to have some pics by now, but ran into a snag. Scratched the windscreen in the middle of front glass, starting on scratch building the detail on side rails. Well, I got the scratch fixed and futured the part and let dry. Was going to mask it so I wouldn't mess it up again, and to my horror discovered I have no masks! So, I surfed the web stores and found Sprue bro has them. Ordered that and a couple of slime lights for a couple future builds So now THAT is on hold till I get the masks. Still need to start painting the pit and wheel well parts.Pics soon....I hope.....Harv :silly:

OK guys, got some painting done on the pit stuff. I did do some detail work on the canopy, but now I know what I want but...I don't think I'll be able to use it. Too many new scratches, masks slid around and They are wasted now ( only one set in the one I bought, so you have to reuse for outside)Some of the side pieces I glued in were not painted on inside before gluing in. ...so on and so on.
SOOO if anyone would have a Trump windshield, I would pay good money for it. I'm desperate!!! Here are some pics...........Harv :duh

In a word...no. I used TTenax to glue the frame work in. It wont come out without making things worst.I wish I could just strip it....Harv

I"m shocked there's not a replacement aftermarket canopy for this monster.

First thing I would do is fire off emails to Stevens International and see if they would replace it. Also send to Trumpy.

I think what you got is salvageable. Break out the sanding sticks and peel off a layer then Future that bad boy over.
