Hard to tell the difference Dave, remember that really great box art and the rave reviews on "P-38 over Europe".? Freakin' cockpit wouldn't fit and didn't even get a sorry out of them about it.

ACK! So the return roller is too long to fit between the track teeth? That's the problem?
Want some Dragon Sherman styrene individual links rubber block tracks to use?
I think I still have a bunch.
And I actually made the effort to contact them about that and got "yeah, we know, we'll have it updated in our next release."
Sorry to be so pissy about this guys but it's very frustrating to have parts that fit one place and not another. It's not like this stowage box is so rare on Lee tanks, every other photo you see of one has them.
I'll put this back on the back burner for a bit till i cool my jets.
The Grousers look great BTW, looks like you could drill out the pins and actually attach them to a set of friuls just like they do in real life.
Thanks Peter, got the kit tracks painted up for now, will see how they look if I take another picture of this.

Oh man...it's just one thing after another. Grousers.
for the longest time I wasn't sure what was stowed in the front track stowage then I ran up on that word. Sure nuff, they make them, you'll find that discussion back a few pages. Well the Grousers look great, you can even see how they would fit over the tracks for traction, and they fit.
They don't fit the EDUARD...EDUARD,track stowage part that came with their external PE set.
I just watched this clip and didn't see any grousers. Are you sure they were stowed on Lulubelle? This is the newer Sahara movie.

Okay, I finally found a clip of the Bogart movie from the front of the tank and see those grousers.
I can send you some from my Tamiya M8 Howitzer Motor Carriage that I bought for parts. Let me know it those will help.

The tank in the remake Sahara didn't have the sub turret either Peter. Think that's a much later variant than the M3 used in the original.

Right. I too noticed the Sahara remake Lee didn't have the .30 cal. MG tuuret.
I'm looking at my M8 kit and it has grousers that mount on the turret sides. I thought they could be adapted/used on the Lee in a pinch.

Peter thanks for checking for me but the part I was having problems with was the Grouser stowage boxes, not spare track.
So...been playing with paint, Nato Black, OD and Desert Yellow
You can see the Grouser box here, I cut the head off the grousers and arranged then alternating up and down. Hard to make out in the pictures how they were stored but I figure, fill it up and move on.
I like this, sort of like Joe's cut aways right? I'll fix the turret on the basket when I fix the .30s in place.
I started assembling these guys a while back, figure I'd introduce them now. Sgt Gunn looks more like Belushi than Boggie, shame but we work with who we got.

I'm glad you were able to get the grouser stowage box figured out.
I'm also happy that Academy put the corrected M7 Priest suspension into the M3 Lee and M3 grant kits at long last. I have both kits.
Want a terrible build? Try saving that ancient Tamiya M3 (light or medium) tank with the track connectors that don't connect the links!
I think the interior in the Academy kit is great because it can show just how cramped the fighting compartment of a tank really is.
I'm watching this with interest.

Paint and everything looks great! it doesn't even look like you had any issues whatsoever. You've got this man, the best models are the ones you fight hardest for, and this one is turning into quite the Masterpiece!

I think at this point decals are in order unless you have other suggestions, which I'm wide open for..
Not sure about these tracks. they are too springy making the road wheels float unnaturally. I didn't plan on mounting like I did the Korea Sherman and I was thinking the Friuls would have given enough weight to squat it down.

I am not sure if you want to do this as it adds lots of time, but I find it very worthwhile.
Take your highlight color and add more buff. Mask off the higher raised, larger details (#1) (Spray them with the lighter color. Smaller area's with #1 can be brush painted - Use your discretion. Then lighten the color again, and hit the areas with #2. Do this to the whole model. When this is done you are ready for a filter to tie it all together, ie blend it. Then gloss coat and decals.
