Yeah nowadays to many decissions are made by computers without that sence of code!

Now this post is kind of uncanny, searching for some 109 video's a couple of nights ago, I came across this vid,

Great story Mats!
Thanks for sharing.

Phil,
Thanks for hooking up the link to the video. It is nice to have the faces to go with the names.

Let's hear it for morality, code, and honor.

Cheers,

Bill

That story always amazed me. Just did some looking and Kitworld actually makes decals for both the B-17 as well as the Bf 109 http://www.kitsworld.co.uk/index.php?EXTPICFILE=1&CATEGORY=4&SUB=1&THISPAGE=1&RADIOSORT=4&STRH=4641&ORDN=4747&STKNR=141&RNZ=270274

My Grandad was on a train from London to Chatham 1940 when this 109 swooped down and flew alongside the train. Upon seeing it was full of civillians and kids along with the odd soldier the plane buffered off much to his relief. There was some honour for sure but very few and far between.

Awesome story though thanks for sharing.

I just heard about this story somewhere else on line. I always find these stories enlightening and interesting!

Has anyone read the book by Franz Stigler?

Would make a neat diorama wouldn't it?

My Aunt lived in Kent during the war. She rem embed the German bombers at roof top height with the gunners waving in the early part of the war. Later she said they would spray the houses randomly, women , kids in the garden etc as they flew over. Chivalry is usually on the part of the ones winning. ;) When she died years later they pulled the house down as it was of wooden construction and found the rafters peppered with bullets :) She had photos she took from her garden of Dornier 217s at tree top height flying over to attack airfields around the BofB time. I wonder what happened to them ? I have seen pictures taken from the bombers of villages on route and they were at zero feet !!( nearly)

It would make a very awesome diorama. I wouldn't even know how to begin with making that B-17 damaged like that
