I used a flash on the chassis rails so they look a bit odd but you get the idea for the colour.

Hi Greg
this model sat half assembled on a shelf for 30 years and was covered in Kitchen grease and dust so the only way i was ever going to get paint to sit well on the plastic was to use an ultra sonic.....i was pleasantly surprised how well it worked.

That first picture looks like totally real 1:1 car parts! I had an ultrasonic cleaner....I wonder where that sucker went?....
Harbor freight has a couple. The good quality jewelry ones like at work are VERY expensive, but I picked up one like this for $130 on sale at Harbor Freight a while back and it works very nicely. I don't think it would hold up to heavy usage every day, but for occasional cleaning of parts it works very well. It holds 6 Liters and is big enough for about anything I will need it for.

Mine is about 6l and will take a couple of motorcycle carbs which is what i bought it fore. TBH its ancient now but still going, timers etc are clockwork :). It has cost me a lot more in special fluids that its purchase price though.

So this where i have got too but i need to take a break now...... I am supposed to be retiring in 4 weeks and i still have a business up and running with a mountain of stock, accounts that need sorting and all the other things that crop up with this major change in life. what am i doing about all this ???....building a model car :)

I have no idea what i am doing, what to do with all the stock. its specialised and there isn't an obvious market other than the one i have been catering for anyway. some could be dumped on E-bay i suppose but i can see a load going to the tip. Its rather sad really though i think it should be a happy time..i dont know ? You spend 20 years building something up and 20 days knocking it back down again.

Transitioning to the "31-Day-Weekend" can take some getting used to. I wish you every happiness!

I am not sure if I will ever be able to fully retire. My plan is to hit 70 where I can then take my S Security and try to pay off this house. Might get to a point where I will just go part time for a little while. I want to move back to Tulsa and be with my daughter and son in law. Best laid plans though, at least I have some plans.

Wow! So jealous!!!!

Really, glad to hear you found this kit for a good price too! Did you ever receive the Alfa yet? Looking great at the rebuild so far.

An older friend of mine in my modeling club is looking to retire some of his builds and he mentioned that he might be looking for a home for for his Pocher Alfa 8C 2300 Muletto!!

Yea the alfa arrived, not looked at it yet, its a job for my retirement, i know if i look now i will just get involved and i need to do one thing at a time :)
