Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Yeah, that T-14 is an interesting vehicle indeed. I'm looking forward to seeing the work you started on that Trumpeter kit. Now if only someone (Modelcollect?) would come out with the T-15 and T-19 in 1/72 scale I'd be thrilled.

I think I led you astray on the T-19. I cant find it now. There is a 2S35 but doesnt look like same chassis. Anyone else know? or am I just dreaming?
Maybe it is the same chassis.

That does actually look like the chassis from either a T-80 or T-90, so you may be right. Still, it would be a thrill to have one of those in my scale. Your T-15 is looking great. Keep up the excellent work James!

Congrats to Grace and Happy Birthday to her. I'll be looking forward to seeing her work, as well as her new stash!

And I've been on a bit of a kick with WWI tanks...need to finish my FT-17 before I start this one and collect the others like the MK. IV, A7V, and the Whippet.

Latest Acquisitions

Hi people!

My latest acquisitions include a new used computer to replace my dead Toshiba laptop. At least I was able to recover enough info to get back onto this site.

I've got some new figures sets including the old Dragon ARVN Rangers. Another set I got for fun is the Master Box Pin-ups. I was a bit disappointed in that set in that some of the arms were not that good a fit to the torsos and the plastic soft enough that great care and an extremely light touch must be used when removing the very slight mold seam.

Btw, Master Box says those Pin-ups can be used as either 1/35 or 1/32 scale figures. Be aware! When I measured them and scale them up they turn out to be equal to a real-life figure of about 5 feet 1 inch height in 1/35 scale.

On the way and arriving any day now are the Master Box Maids and then I'll be ordering the Mini-Art Cafe Set to use them with.

Got some more 1/35 scale Zvzeda figures too. I Bought the German Paratroops (complete with one open parachute), the German 3.7cm Anti-Tank Gun with Crew (cold weather uniforms), the German Halftrack Crew and the German Panzer Grenadiers.

Cheers

Disappointed in this release...

I got this one off eBay simply because it has most of the sprues from Special hobby's kits and at a good price:

Also, bought these for my A-20 kits as the CAD looks great! In my hands though, not liking the ignition wires being molded this way. I need to see if it is visible when the R-2600 engines are inside the cowlings. The wheels are very nice indeed.

Can you get the filler out between the cylinder and wire?

The 'filler' is the same thickness as the wire all the way to the cylinders. Best to remove and replace (including replacing lost cylinder fin details).

Over Easter weekend we went to Mom's house, she had found this in my Dad's stuff. He was on the board of directors of the NRA, (National Restaurant Association) and was selected as a Hennessy Traveler in 1994. He was one of the judges who flew around USAF chow halls rating them. Flew with a rank of Brig General so he wouldn't be bumped from a flight.

Anywho...they started and ended at Langley and one of the things he got was this.

Interesting history of the 1st Fighter Wing. Not very detailed, reads dry like a squadron report but does talk about Eddie Rickenbacker and others flying the first USAS missions over the trenches.

The stuff Grace milked me for. Could not beat the prices almost all were half off the sticker.

Since she really into helicopters and never build one. I suggested for her to get some to practice building and th n she can work into the newer more expensive kits. One seller did not want to make change so he kept adding kits.

Some of the bagged kits there are more than one of the same

And what a wonderful monster she is Sherman! Certainly a fantastic creation! Those are some nice models of helicopters; most of which I've built in 1/72 scale. She is gonna have fun! I am looking forward to seeing some of these finished models at the Nationals someday.

Saul, that Special Hobby Cobra looks good. I might have to get one of those. I don't think I have the helicopter configuration in my IDF.

Dragon Models USA order came through (not bad for $90USD shipped)! I blame my friend Christophe Jacquemont for pointing out their 50% off Flash Sale:

Hey Jeff, Tell Grace that I bought that Airfix French Cuirassier in a London, England hobby shop back in the 1980s, about 35 years ago. Still haven't built it! :bang head

I'll do that. I was a bit surprised there was a one there. Thought they would be long gone.

I told her at the swap meet "See these guys, that'll be you when I die. Selling off all my junk." She said "Nope, I'll build them"

Okay, here are some of my acquisitions from the past couple weeks.

First is this one, given to me by a friend who got it from his next door neighbor:

Revell_Space_Shuttle_with_Launch_Tower.jpg

That has since been sold. Made a pretty penny off it.

Next are two deals I got from Squadron, both were gotten for between 60 and 75 percent off:

Hobby_Boss_German_Panzerlok_Br-57_Locomotive.jpg

I've already started both of these. The locomotive is already at the painting stage.

Last is a gift I got from a friend and fellow AMPS member:

Value_Gear_Truck_Loads_I.jpg

That's probably gonna be it for awhile; I need to save up for Phoenix. I have plenty to keep me busy for awhile anyway.

Nice! Wash it, dry it, Dr. Mikes glue will be good and your favorite primer, I'd use Tamyia.
