I got another T-62 today and this fugly beast.

h41b9b20.JPG

It has 4 Mexican markings and 1 Argentine Marine marking. I didn't realize that the French had a different version when I bought it and I hope Tiger Models comes out with it. The French have the Sagaie and Valo with bigger turret and then upgraded vehicle. Maybe they might also repurpose the chassis and make the ERC-60 mortar carrier with autocannon. They have most of the RCR-10 versions now.

James (Maus) and my cables finally arrived. I am hoping to do a review on them. From the net and an initial glance they look very good. I thought I had ordered a T-62 set but maybe thats the same as the T-64, T-72, T-80, T-90 set.
The barbed wire and pegs looks impressive. You can get them copper colour or blackened so I got black. What really grabbed my attention was the dowl to replace the unditching beam.

Neat, what are those hoses?

Its a rubber flexible tube. A bit bigger than I thought but still it should do for fuel hoses or anywhere else a small flexible hose is required.

They have some cool stuff. I like the looks of their stuff but it took a long time to arrive. I thought I had T-54/55/62 cables coming but I guess not.

Upon thinking about it a bit, it really shows just how much things have changed.

In the 1980s when I was the most active in a modelers group, there was no Ukraine, models of Soviet and eastern block countries either didn't exist or were horribly crude.

Today you can get all kinds of nice model kits of military equipment built and used by the former eastern block countries.
In the order I got the other day I received decals for a Russian Mig-21 and a Mil-8/17 that were made in Russia, and aftermarket wheels also for a Russian Su-25 that were made in the Ukraine. All of those items shipped from the Ukraine!

Who would have thought THAT would be possible 30 years ago!?

I have another shipment from the Ukraine due in at any time that will have wheel sets for my Mil-24/35 Hind, the Mig-21, and the Mil-8/17 (all 1/32 Trumpy kits with rubber crap wheels). There will also be a stencil and decal set to do the scheme in the photo and a WW2 helicopter in 1/35th. :D

Right on! And us armour, softskin and figure builders have a plethora of great stuff coming out of Eastern Europe from companies such as ICM, Master Box and MiniArt. Plus there are many civilians figures sets from those companies and many of those companies also offer most interesting weapons sets too or in the case of MiniArt excellent diorama accessories such as clear bottles and various kits with furniture in them. The days of resin being the only choice for those is now ended. We are indeed in a golden age of modelling.

Cheers

Cool James! B) (y)

It is really a neat thing to see all these tanks with interiors now. I built the OLD Tamiya 1/25th scale Tiger tank back in the 80's and it had "somewhat" of an interior. The thing I remember most about that build is that the tracks and wheels worked quite freely and it would roll down a 30 degree incline quite smoothly and coast a short ways.

Of course the newer kits probably won't do that but the interiors are much much better.

The last 2 kits are in. Trumpeter T-14 and T-84BM Oplot. Also got the last volume of the Ammo of Mig Armour encyclopedia and the Panther book. As soon as the T-62 is off the bench I think the T-14 might nudge ahead onto it.

Nice score James! I built the T-14 Armata tank in 1/72 scale; it is a funky looking tank that is bigger than I expected with a turret that seems too small for the tank. You're gonna love building it. Watch out for the P/E screens in the back, they can be tricky, especially if they have you build them piece by piece like Modelcollect did.

Have fun, I'm looking forward to seeing these started!

Thanks Mark. I started it tonight. I already built the Takom kit when it came out but it eneded up on the paint bench and then stuff went missing so it still sits there. The new Trumpeter kit is even better. The tank is bigger and the crew sits three abreast in the front hull. The turret is totally automatic and so it has no room for the crew. Its all remote. The T-15 has the same chassis but is used as an APC and the T-19(if I remember correctly) is the same chassis but with the 150mm gun on it as the new Self Propelled Artillery piece. The Trumpeter kit has little PE so no probs.

Yeah, that T-14 is an interesting vehicle indeed. I'm looking forward to seeing the work you started on that Trumpeter kit. Now if only someone (Modelcollect?) would come out with the T-15 and T-19 in 1/72 scale I'd be thrilled.

I think I led you astray on the T-19. I cant find it now. There is a 2S35 but doesnt look like same chassis. Anyone else know? or am I just dreaming?
Maybe it is the same chassis.
