Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Sounds like you have chosen a long term project Laurance! My opinion of Trumpy kits lately is that they give interesting but fall way short when doing research and getting the details right. My Arizona is horribly incorrect though it does build up out of the box to a nice looking kit.

However, if I am going to put that much money and time into a kit like that it is going to be RIGHT, but that is me. I applaud you jumping on the Bismark and maybe you will get me chopping on my Arizona again!

Yes, it seems to be a long term project, I bet Bob is smiling at our definition of "long" - with him having worked on his fantastic diorama for the past how many years now ? 10 or so?

I have already started the research, and, as usual, first bump in the road - the colors. So much arguing about the colors that makes my head spin.

As soon as I get the kit, I will start a thread and discuss it all there.

Thank you for the encouragement, good luck with the Arizona!!!

What are the barrels like from Sabot? How does the T-54 fare in comparison to the Takom version?

The barrels from Magic Models, distributed in the US by Sabot Publications, are exactingly accurate. This means having to modify the kit to make it fit. I bought the 100mm gun tube for the MiniArt kit since, other than the barrel, the kit is sublime.

I have not bought any of Takom's T-55 since I heard of some of the problems in accuracy.

That Y Wing would be very cool.

I got a book that has been in the mail for the past 2 months. Kagero's Top Drawings on the SBD Dauntless. I must say I could have saved my money as I don't think very much of this at all. Some drawings, five colour prints and a small mask set. Wont do that again.

That is an interesting Caddy there Terry! I have also been eyeballing a Y-Wing but just have not worked up the nerve to pop for one.

I can understand your pain James, I ordered some books from Valiant about a month ago. They weren't all that prompt about shipping them and they still are a no show. Not sure how much longer it will take or if they will arrive at all. The books should be quite nice, just not sure about shipping from them for the most part.

I don't think you will be disappointed by the Valiant books. I have most and they are all excellent in my opinion. This was from Amazon but shipped from England and I think they rowed across and then took burrow the rest of the way. My big complaint was the content wasn't what I expected. Way less than I expected really.

The only thing bothering me is I ordered back in August and it is now October. I have a couple of the Valiant books already and am looking forward to getting the new ones (if they ever get here). Am kind of down on USPS lately as they managed to loose a package of screws and fasteners a while back. The company that I bought from though resent the order (which was 1st class with tracking like the first time) and I finally was able to finish my machining project. :yipee (Photos this weekend!)

Have a few other things I have obtained lately that I will post then too.

Those Galaxie kits build up well, I have not succumbed to the temptation yet. :ro:

That Sedan Delivery is cool. I didn't see who makes it? Is it something new or an older kit Terry?

It's put out by Galaxie Limited. It has been out for a while. I got mine at nationals, but I think they are still around. Yeah the delivery is not one you see very often.

Wow , my first year in the US , there was a 1947 Chevy 4 door sedan parked accross the street .

Green top over a tan body . Wow , what an enormous pice of steel :woohoo:

I wish that old fella would have cleaned it even once . It probably would have looked a lot cooler . :good: Daily driver.

I think that dlivery vehicle will look cool :)

Nice scores gentlemen! Way to go!

I actually finally have something to post here.....

I'll start out with my raffle prizes from Orangecon:

These are Wingnut Wings lozenge decals:

Wingnut_Wings_Decals.jpg

I'll be offering them to a friend in my IPMS club first; if he doesn't want them, they will go up for sale.

Renwal kit of the USS Springfield:

Renwal_USS_Springfield.jpg

I already built the Revel re-box of this kit as the USS Boston when I was a kid. My next door neighbor then was a crewman on the Boston and when he saw that I built models, he gifted me the Boston. Now I have this one.

This is Revell's Missile set:

Monogram_USA_USSR_Missile_Set.jpg

I'm still undecided about actually building this since it is 1/144 scale; I will definitely sell it if I get a decent offer.

Mobius Models Battlestar Galactica Colonial One:

Mobius_Models_BG_Colonial_One.jpg

I already have one of these so it will go in the sale stash. If I don't sell it after awhile; I may consider building it as a derelict space freighter or something.....

Glencoe Models Coast Guard Life Boat:

Glancoe_Models_US_Coast_Guard_Rescue_Boat.jpg

I'm building that one.

Those were my raffle winnings. Here are a few others...

This one I got for filling out a Tamiya questionnaire:

If anyone wants it, make an offer.

I purchased this from one of the vendors who also threw in a Dragon Hummel Late model for free. I later gave away the Hummel to someone who wanted it since I already have one built:

This Girlz und Panzers StuG was a gift from a friend:

These tools and the Wash were all purchases. The paints were a raffle prize:

I wanted to try out that Vallejo wash since many people have raved about it.

Now Orangecon was being held jointly with a Historical Miniatures Gaming Society gaming convention. The Orangecon was a one day event; the game convention went for two days. On the second day of the game convention, I picked up the following....

Two Revell Shermans:

Three other US Army vehicles:

Hasegawa_US_Army_Vehicles__.jpg

And this Dragon T-34/76 Mod 1941:

Dragon_T-34_76_Mod_1941.jpg

Those six vehicles will be built for my wargame army and won't be included in my count of finished armor models. I'll be playing with all those.

I also picked up some reference books by Osprey:

Wow, that's a lot! I now have a bunch more to do now. Time to get started.....

Thanks for looking in!
