Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

Latest Acquisitions

I am reaching a point where I need to disperse some of my stash to other worthy builders. Don't have the time or inclination to build a lot of what I aquired over the years. I am also becoming more selective with my acquisitions these days. :hmmm

If you have a 1/350 TOS Enterprise you may part with, I'd be interested. :D

Sorry Jeff, have not ever gotten around to obtainig that kit with all it's goodies. I do have a couple of extra 1/350 movie enterprise kits from the original release still sealed though.

Also didn't know you were a Trekkie! :D
Yep I bet there is a few closet trekkies around Oh look at me I am also one - Live long and prosper

I was raised right: on Star Trek, Lost in Space and the Twilight Zone. I'm probably an outsider on this, but I've never cared for any of the following Star Trek series or movies. The original was way ahead of it's time and the simplicity was it's charm to me.

Just like the Italeri 1/35 Schnellboat and the Revell 1/72 Type VII U-boat, I put off buying the 1/350 TOS Enterprise until it was out of rotation. Then I put off buying the overpriced leftover stock of the two former and they both rotated back into production.

Polar Lights or Round 2, whoever is handling the Enterprise will come around again soon enough.

In the meantime I still have the big B-9 Robot (with sound/light kit) and the Flying Sub from VTTBOTS.

Update on the Enterprise: Polar Lights is releasing the 50th Anniversary Edition in November. Retooled to reflect the production model from the Smithsonian.

Joy.

I've been lazy posting anything from photos of my latest to what I have been busy with but here are the Latest Acquisitions:

LuckyModel order for my AFV Club F-5E & F-5F kits... waiting for some resin to come in stock.

Excellent book with my wife's B&N 40% coupon (which she didn't use):

My first order from Wordery.com since it includes shipping. I tried them since I recommended the company to James Knaus as a possibly cheaper way to buy the book he offered to take off my hands:

Part of the aforementioned LuckyModel order. Those static dischargers are impressive but the 48th scale ones are still out of stock:

Looks like you have done a good build documented here for us James so i don't need to bother. Don't think i could improve on what you have done anyway :)

Would still love to see a build blog. You always have inovative ways of problem solving and making details better.

I may give it ago after my next project which i am waiting for in the post. I quite like the idea of building a copy of the one in the Fleet air arm Museum here

Its so nice to see an aircraft in a museum straight off the flight line and unrestored, it gives an insight into the hard lives these things had.

wasn't it the Royal Navy who figured out ho to successfully land the Corsair on a carrier?

I so agree with that statement. I wish there were more of those to view.

wasn't it the Royal Navy who figured out how to successfully land the Corsair on a carrier?

They figured out how to make it "safe" for carrier ops. The USN had 2 carrier qualed squadrons (VF-12 & VF-17) early on, though 1 of them ended up releasing their Corsairs to the USMC shortly thereafter. Since the USN had the Hellcat to fall back on, it wasn't a huge priority for them to sort out the landing difficulties of the Corsair. The Royal Navy didn't have an option, as their existing aircraft were obsolete. So they went about tweaking the plane and landing patterns to make it more sea-worthy. The USN later adopted several of the changes late in the war and started implementing them at sea.
