Excellent Peter (although I don't drink beer or ale)... it will go well with the book I bought!

That Airfix spitfire is still the best representation of the mark.

After buying myself the Eduard Spitfire Mk IX Overtrees, I went into my stash and found my Spitfire kits. All were 1/72nd scale Mk V except for a lone PCM 32nd scale Mk IX.

A walk to my library produced a bunch of books and comparing their plans to the Eduard plans (offered free on their site but it may be a BFC member only item). Noting large discrepancies, I found that my books were totally out-dated.

Anyway, looking around for the best book led me to believe this would be exactly what I needed:

Finding the book on online sites made my heart cringe at the prices I saw. The cheapest was $85CDN direct from the author but one must factor in shipping to the US which is not cheap for one of our border countries.

So, why am I posting here? I am posting because they offer an e-book version for only $20CDN. Done deal and...

Wow...

I may be treating myself to the hard copy for Christmas...

Simply fantastic, see reviews by clicking on each image (from reviews on different sites). To try or buy, click on the link of the book cover.

Regards,

Didnt I do a review of that book here a few years back? Maybe it was LSP, I cant remember. Anyways if you are a Spitfire Mk IX fanatic it is the book for you.

Got this vignette because it is so cool. Love it. Unfortunately My wife just took it away and said it was for Christmas from her. Hmm :hmmm I pay for it, but its from her..... :pinch: something doesn't seem right here.

Well, I had informed most of the vendors that I will not be doing any armor reviews. However, this came in the mail a few days ago and I opened it to see what it was since I didn't buy anything. Maybe it was a back order?

TrumpeterT90BoxArt.JPG

Nope, it is a T-90. I recalled the announcement a while ago and I knew I had a Tamiya kit I had planned to convert to the T-90 with the MiniArm set.

Why send me this?

TrumpeterT90Decals.JPG

These are the decals and I must say I am pleased as they were unexpected.

I then went looking at the sprues and checked out the driver's hatch opening (it is correct) ensured the gun tube was the correct variant for the T-90 (it is and Trumpeter includes two types of barrel tip but one is not mentioned), I checked out the hull tub (beautifully detailed) and then took a look at the road wheels.

Simply put, these road wheels would tell me what to expect from Trumpeter's T-72 series:

As you can see from the white arrows, even the tire size text is there!

I wrote a quick thank you letter to the sender for remembering what I like and looking further than the box top. Since I didn't pay for this kit (probably a thank you for some references I sent) I will review it here.

Cool Saul. Would be interested in knowing how it compares to the Meng version. Will keep an eye out for the review.

Looking forward to it Saúl! Just curious though...why no more armor reviews?

Looking forward to it Saúl! Just curious though...why no more armor reviews?

Mostly, because I have no time to write them properly. Second, I want to build (even if I am sandbagging) and I hope to write a few aircraft reviews. The fact that another site took away my ability to publish and update reviews made me 'pull the trigger' on armor reviews.

what color/brand paint did you use on that rim Saul?

Nothing on the rim, it is bare but I did cover the tire (or tyre based on where you're from) with a black Sharpie permanent marker as I was unsure if the bare plastic would show the lettering.

Nice counter Invader!

:) tyre in Oz !!

ah ok was just thinking that it looks very grainy which obscures the letters detail, acrylic tyre black will do the trick for you, the Gunze (Mr Hobby) is great H 77.

Nice counter Invader!

Cheers! would of been good with a Sharkmouth decal option though!!

... it looks very grainy which obscures the letters detail...

That is actually the kit's finish on the tire/tyre. The use of the marker was to make it shiny and reflect a bit. I agree on your choice of acrylic paint. Dark grays (OK, grey in Oz) look better than black for rubber but I tend to give it a drop of brown on the mixing palette if the tire/tyre is natural rubber, or use a lighter gray/grey for a man made rubber.
