Latest Acquisitions Revisited!

It will be nice to see that one all build up with a nice toothy smile Saul,

It would be but I have been a lot lately at ARC Forums where we are finding out all the improvements needed for this kit. I will be writing a detailed review, as detailed as the ones I wrote for Track-Link on armor subjects, for this very site.

Also, I haven't bought the decal sheets (one for the sharkmouth and the other for stencils) yet.

Well one can always wish Saul

Truth be told, I have both a Trumpeter MiG-23MF and an Eduard MiG-21MF with loads of goodies that I am itching to start, and both have sharkmouth schemes already in the box!

eBay from China is still the best way to get these:

Where did you get the rocket launcher and tires from Saul? All I got was the basic detail and the rockets. I havent found the launcher or wheels yet. Thanks in advance for help.

I went looking and NONE of the Chinese shops seem to have ET Models now! I will keep looking and let you know.

Got my upgrade for the new Revel Bf 109G-6 today. Even though it seems better than the Hasegawa kit it still had a lot of issues. Alley Cat came to the rescue with an all in one fix rather than sourcing all the individual details from multiple AM. Also Les got me going with his He 162 so I got some Montex masks at the same time. Look for a jet in my future.

I actually have been considering 'upgrading' my Hasegawa Bf-109G-6 to the Revell. What are the issues addressed by Alley Cat? Sounds like a segue to a review.

Just received Malta Spitfire Vs - 1942 : Their Colours and Markings

DSCF0084edited.jpg

The result of the author's 14 years of research after deciding to build a Spitfire as flown by WC "Laddie" Lucas and being told by Lucas that there were no Desert Scheme Spitfires on 249 Sqn while he was there.

Nice scores. All I got was a 1/72 scale Airfix Lockheed Hudson at the Brewer Brother's show with some of the money I earned from sales. I picked it up for $5.00. Kinda hard to pass that up.

After buying myself the Eduard Spitfire Mk IX Overtrees, I went into my stash and found my Spitfire kits. All were 1/72nd scale Mk V except for a lone PCM 32nd scale Mk IX.

A walk to my library produced a bunch of books and comparing their plans to the Eduard plans (offered free on their site but it may be a BFC member only item). Noting large discrepancies, I found that my books were totally out-dated.

Anyway, looking around for the best book led me to believe this would be exactly what I needed:

Finding the book on online sites made my heart cringe at the prices I saw. The cheapest was $85CDN direct from the author but one must factor in shipping to the US which is not cheap for one of our border countries.

So, why am I posting here? I am posting because they offer an e-book version for only $20CDN. Done deal and...

Wow...

I may be treating myself to the hard copy for Christmas...

Simply fantastic, see reviews by clicking on each image (from reviews on different sites). To try or buy, click on the link of the book cover.

Shalom.

A while back I got this 1/48 scale Airfix F22/24 Spitfire kit.

Then I got the Squadron Spitfire In Action book.

Now I'm really ready to build a Spitfire because yesterday I got these to enjoy whilst building the kit.

Interesting acquisition Eh?

Cheers from Peter
