Got Boost? - 1976 Porsche 934 (1/24 Tamiya)

Bit behind the curve as far as build thread...but better late than never I suppose.

Project started Jan 29 after the last local club meeting. Being build as a 30 day build project due by our next club meeting this coming weekend. Should be close...I hope.

Pics have been a bit limited, but below are a couple of the body prep/painting.

One of the first model kits I had as a child was a 911. WAY over my head.

Other than the LF fender one being a bit crooked.....which I didn't notice until looking at the picture.

They did go down pretty well, though definitely a bit on the thick side. Used some Gunze Mr. Softener to help conform...especially on the front bonnet around the fill cap and step on the number plate.

Fit up of the body.


Made an appearance at the model club meeting this weekend. Ended up winning the 30-day Build "competition". I somehow missed that it was a competition.

BM's Blitzbuilds trained me for this! Most of the other guys are not used to a "shorter" turnaround time. That said, I still don't think it was the best one there. But I think most of us think that...since we know all the little areas we'd do better next time.

Pretty cool, I'll take it. Get to have my name engraved on the club trophy that gets handed down each year to the winner of our annual competition in January. My lasting mark before I move across country later this year.

Still need to find material for the mirror glass and install the hood pins (that I forgot about until I was boxing it up to take to the meeting) before it's officially complete.

Lately, yes. I know the guy who flies the Extra up at Donaldson has one.

Haven't a clue. He scared the hell out of me once doing aerobatics over the airport.
Driving down the highway close to Donaldson I look up and see an aircraft spinning towards the ground and go below the tree line, you would expect a mushroom cloud after you lost LOS. several moments later I see the Extra climbing back up and doing it again.
I pulled up at the airport viewing area, there were a bunch of other aviation geeks hanging out there. The fella landed and taxed up to the hanger right in front of us, where the porche was parked. As he got out of the aircraft we all gave him the salute.

We were at the Porsche dealership in Chattanooga awhile back for some work on my wife's. While there a salesman showed us 5 Caymans owned by the same person they are taking care of. The one in the pic, we were told, is a rare factory setup road rally Cayman. Signed on the roof by the Porsche family with a sharpie pen. My wife wanted her picture made standing with it.

I had a service call at a Porche dealer down in Charleston, the PC that needed attention was in the maintenance bay, the mechanic was taking out the rear end. He had a big thick manual with part call outs and instruction on what tools to use. Looked like the most well documented model instructions I've ever seen.
What really shocked me, you could eat off the floor in there! I'm used to auto shops that have never seen the brushy end of a broom. Don't know where I'm heading with this just sharing my brush with Porche.

They didn't give a name and I didn't ask, but I was wondering who lives in Chattanooga with that much money. The dealership is spotless. One of the tech guys there has the Porsche emblem tattooed on him. We got complementary waters after having our $2,300 dollar battery replaced.

I'll tell you the story about the mortgage negotiation I over heard years ago. There's bunches of money up in those hills!
