Gauge decals

Hi all,

Here is the problem:
I have a nice moulded dashboard in 1/35 scale
I have a nice slide-off wet decal set with all the gauges
But all gauges are on ONE single decal
So how to get them in place while its almost impossible to cut them to shape ?
Some are not more them 0.5 mm or 1/50 inch AND round
I tried twice with lots of sweat without succes.

Specially airplane guys should know how, with them 1/48 or 1/32 dashboards.

Thanks ahead, Willem

Hole punch is first suggestion, careful cutting with sharp blade is next.

Then we get to the goodies.

Archer has some but not aircraft specific. I do not see any gauges but lots of other goodies.

Then we have http://www.airscale.co.uk/
They have some very cool stuff including the bezels and other etched items.

Scale 1/35... then it must be armour or a softskin with wheels? try archer they have many different sets and they deliver fast, less than a week it took before i had my sets!

Opps, sorry, I missed the 1:35 scale. Yeah Archer focuses primarly on armor subjects but there's hope for aircraft folks, they told me at AMPS last year that when they finish the armor stuff, they'll start working on aircraft.. :good: ... :blink

Thanks guys,

Archer has indeed the right decals for my model.
But they are not cheap: about 19 us dollars including shipping, even from within Europe.
Still I would have ordered them, but details of the dashboard are hardly visible from the outside of the cabin.
That would be a waste of money.

I just hoped there was a easy way.
So I did a nerve-wrecking self-torture and cut the decals with scalpel and magnifier.

One of these days I will post the results

Willem

Any reason you can't just apply the gauges decal as one decal instead of cutting it all up? If it is the kit decal then it should fit. Just make cuts where anything is sticking up alot (switches, etc) and it should lay down fine with some setting solution.

Doug

Hi Doug,

No the decal did not match to the actual dashboard.
Further it is to irregular with all those bezels and switches.

But the result is satifying for me after all the work, see picture.

Thanks, willem
