Included in the box was a True Details/Black Box resin cockpit, which is very detailed with lousy instructions. My exposure to resin has been very limited. Need to cut off the instrument comming. BecarfullI!! Use ahorizontal cut or ulse too much will be removed. thought I would start this kit while the paint cures on the M1A2.

Never heard of the "pig" label for the MIGHTY PHANTOM. I've always thought of it as a beast of an airplane.
Anyway, the cockpit top side molding is installed. The resin parts were doubled ad had to be sanded down quite a bit.
The crazy instructions had me using too many parts. They don't match well.I had to print up instructions from the True Details site and pick and choose the right part. Both are pretty crappy and vague. The detail of the parts are very nice. If someone needs cockpit top side parts PM me and I'll mail them to you. They are very small now that they are sanded down. Never heard it called a pig but we often referred to it as a Hog . It needed a lot of attention to keep it moving

Basic painting of the seats and cockpit. Seat curtain handles were cut off from kit parts. The seat center pull handle was made from florist wire. Next is a black wash and oil high lights. Then I'll pick out a few red buttons to paint.

I’ve always heard the F-4 called the Rhino or Double Ugly, but I’ve found that the aircrews and ground crews often had different names for jets depending on their independent “opinions” of the jets. :tomato

The Germans probably heard if from American crew chiefs . I personally loved them because they forever required fixing . The other specialist might of had their own idea about what to call them but I can tell you who always wound up getting them going . The Germans would have been more likely to call the Swine Hound .

But hey maybe you guys spent more time with them than myself .

Must be a generational thing. Those us us who grew up in the 50's and 60's had a different perspective of the Phantom. I first saw it in 1958 in a Steve Canyon Sunday comic strip. I was 8 yrs. old and very impressed. The difficulty with the resin cockpit is really holding me back. Now that I finishes the Stug III, it's back to work on the MIGHTY PHANTOM. Gary S.
