Hasegawa 1/48 F-86F-30

I think I'm done with the masking and painting, now it's just down to the decals. The gun ports were not present of the RF-86's, but to fool the enemy they were painted on. I puzzled for a while on how to do that, and then decided to use a pencil. I cut masks for the outlines and ran a pencil around the inside and made smudges where the barrels would show. Overcoated that with Alclad Aqua Gloss. I didn't think I could cut or place a mask well enough to do a creditable job with paint.

Yeah the knuckle draggers gotta know where the fuel hose goes in and the grounding strap attaches.

Thanks, Saul. I had just conquered my MM addiction and you show me some guy that has thousands of bottles...

Ooooo! Look at all the pretty colors!

The Boyd's sunburst orange is too rich for my blood. I often use that on USCG aircraft.

Lookee! A pair of "tourists"! Smile for the birdie! "This one is for your Mom." These were cool before your excellent pictures!
What is the purpose of the gray painted (?) tip of the peeping Sabre's fin?

Just caught up here, late as usual.....
Very impressive masking John, getting things even each side is never as easy as it looks but its worth the effort over decals .
Finished job looks excellent 👍

Thanks, everyone, your comments are much appreciated. They will both go to the museum next week. I'll still have the photos, get to see them once a month, and won't have to dust them!
