Deunan Knute of the Appleseed Anime Series;
I bought this figure at the Atlanta Military Figure Show about twelve years ago. It was sculpted by Tetsuo Kato, with a company in Japan called “Pantheon”. The story pulls a lot of characters from Greek mythology. The story is based on the work of the Manga anime by Masamune Shirow.

I think I’m turning Japanese?
I began by priming like I do my armor kits, all black. I like blonds in black.
The head, shown here primed only, was painted separately in Vallejo flat flesh for the skin and MSP tanned skin for the hair. More color, the eye and other detail will be added to these base colors later.
After much experimenting with colors and watching the Appleseed flicks frame by frame for a month I settled on a color scheme of Field Grey Dark, Medium and Light tones. I looked up Shep Payne’s color formula which uses the primary colors, yellow and blue plus black and white. Model Master Paints were used exclusively in order to keep the chemistry of the paint consistent. I like to spray with enamels because they do not dry in tip of my Iwata as fast as acrylics do.
After another four hours of mixing and airbrushing I have her paint scheme fairly well roughed out. I then went back and painted the guns and ammo pouch with Humbrol Gloss Coal Black. There’s something about a strong looking Blond in a German Field Grey body suit strapped with weapons and body armor.
More to be added later……..
