Well, I did some work last night, but did note get a chance to post pics - man the running gear on this baby has a lot of struts & stuff! Also, I know, no pics of the kit in process yet, but the way you build this baby is to piece the lower hull together, the sides of which are just smooth plastic, then apply the side that hold the running gear, a bit like 'applique' armor. This seemed odd, as it made for a big fat seam at the front glacis of the hull, but in looking at some pics, that appears on the actual item:

I think I am going to slightly modify this before primiing ont he actual kit, in order to make it appear a bit more of a weld than just a straight seam.
I was also looking a the various pics and it seems that most of the pics I see show tanks that have badly damaged fenders that were on the losing end of combat, and tanks that were abandoed due to technical issues that have little fender damage

I do not want to model as knocked out, & I am trying to go OOB, so may only do a small amount of fender damage. We'll see. As an aside, I found at least one pic of a KV-2 in parade that had no fenders at all!
Lastly, I am having a bit of a time finding original/period pics of the KV-2's in Winter Whitewash! this is the way I am leaning hard, as I would have thought a giant green square box would stand out against snow covered ground or trees. Anyone have any?

Thanks gang! I am leaning hard towards a white-washed green. Here are a few pics, but i have been stymied by life this week - no real work done! Ah well...at least I got the running ear underway:
Here, you can see a distinct seam either side of the front glacias. Although there is something similar in the pics referenced above, I do not think it that large, and as such, I am going to 'fix' that I think with some sprue, making weld seams:
Here si my real dilemma. When installing the lift eyes for these rear covers, I had at least two depart for parts unknown! You can only see oneof the like 8 installed! they are absolutely tiny, so I feel that I can come up with something there, but man, what a pain in the neck this part has been:
So anyway, I was away most of the weekend, and as you can see, my two favorite kitties are wanting an early bedtime - I will get more into it this week, y'all have a great one!

If I would hve knoe the Mighty IRON MIKE had built this I would have gone wtih something eles - I am intimidated!

Hey Bruce! Everybody has a method of getting a model covered with paint, looks like you're about ready. I painted the lower hull, undersides of the fenders, road wheels and sprockets, then also painted the track sections. I installed the road wheels et al, then put the fenders on, masked the tracks with a piece of glossy paper torn from an old magazine. I always shoot my turrets separately, feels like you get better coverage that way. I would suggest you make your grab bars from copper or brass wire, the kit ones are a bit fragile and have two seams that need cleanup. Strip the insulation off a chunk of electric wire, it's soft and bends easily. Holler at me if you have questions, keep going!

I looked and looked, and decided nothing this much of a behemoth could be driven far without damage to the fenders, so here is mine:
I feel bit 'ill' (cough-cough), and I am sure I cannot make it to work tomorrow! No TV here, whatever am I going to do to bide my time? he-he-he.....................
