B1 bis

Very cool! B) Nice work, Tim! Glad to see you got a little time off to enjoy yourself!

Looking really good. Keep at it, Thinking there is another B-1 in my future. The fenders are outstanding by the way.

Thanks guys, Yep finally got a day off!
Well I took this shot in the dark but it's the only way some of the detail would show up on the snow white styrene.
After a few failed attemps and a couple of launchings lost in the carpet I managed to make the light's cover turning mechanism :gogo it's tiny.

Nice work Tim , ......... your build convinced me to get this kit along with the Dragon early dudes with French tankers .

Fenders came out sweet , are the Tam ones too thick ?

Does that faucet handle say "hot" or "cold"? Looking sweet!!(y)

Thats what it looks like to me too...... wonder what it's tech term would be? My wife would call it a "hicky"

Hi Cheyenne, yeah the kit's are to thick. I attempted to thin them from the under side but decided to just build new ones. This started out to be an out of the box build so I didn't look into the aftermarket offerings plus the styrene was with in arms reach ;) I'm also looking at thinning the track links. I'll bet there is an offering for those too but I'll also bet I can't swing the price.

:ro: love the fenders, actually I just love seeing white styrene on a model:D
This baby is coming along nicely. What type of paint scheme will it have.....:hmmm how about ..RUST :D :D
Looks like the parts are a good fit all around... typical Tamiya.

Waiting for the first drop of paint to hit the plastic.

Rob

Thanks Randy and Rob
I was suprised at how fast they were done, took about two hours. The kit is nice but I think the mantlet for the 75mm gun could have been designed better.

As for paint I still like the scheme with the large numbers in the pic I posted but Iowabrit's link doesn't show this paticular one.

Rust looks cool too though ;)

Got a little more done today. Made another machine gun as I didn't like the kit's.

Decided to try thinning the track links. It only took two to get really bored but I think they look better. Thinned section is on the left in the pic.

Isn't it funny that we modelers ALWAYS find thinks in the modelkit we are not happy with?:eek:hmy:

Really like where you going with this one Tim.:)

Greetings,Ron.

Ah nuts, you had to go and post that pic :woohoo: . Now I might have to get me that kit and rust it up :D

Model is coming along nicely and good work on thinning the tracks.

Looking great Tim.
I was thinking that if I ever built this one I would definately have to get Friuls for it, but your method of thinning the tracks looks super. Can't wait to see the full run of tracks.

Re: B1

She's looking great. The fenders are wonderful - it's always nice to see modelers doing some old fashioned scratch work.

Take care,
Rick

PS. I knew you'd have Rob itchy once he saw the rust picture!

yep that is mighty tempting.:hmmm

Anyone got any pics of the inside of the B1 ??!!

It would be a quick enough build that I may have to go for it. Damn I forgot that I have the rusty half track to build first, thanks to Ken :D

Looking forward to seeing those tracks on the model.

Neither can I Tom  I've got about half of one track done - very boring work!

Thanks guys,
I aint come across any interior shots yet. The one in the pic looks like it was used as a plinking target though.

I'll spend hours making a part that is almost as good as the commercial offerings
