Around The World In MBTs

Thanks! Yes Duke let's see a pic of all 6 together if that's possible.

Okay, here they are:

Front row L to R: German Leopard 2A6, British Challenger II, American M1A1 Abrams.
Back row, L to R: French LeClerc, Japanese Type 90, Israeli Merkava III.

I now have a Japanese Type 10, successor to the Type 90, so once I get it built; I'll update this pic. When I do, I'll add the Russian T-90 that I also have built, as well as the Italian C-1 Ariete.

There you go!

Thanks guys! Yeah, I hadn't noticed that the Challenger II looks bigger than all of them. And Chef, I don't blame you for building the Type 10 for Japan. That is their newest MBT. I need to get started on mine soon too.

Got it all off the sprues now -

The suspension works very well as you can see. Going to let the glue cure then clean up the seam marks etc.

That's cool, I like articulating suspension. Goes along well with the rumbling noise you make as you drive it over the work bench :soldier

Shalom.

I like moveable or at least positionable suspension too because most of my armour ends up on a base or in a small diorama. I like to depict my armour in something other than a parade ground flat surface.

Cheers from Peter

Cheers!
Been a while since I looked at this but I have been chipping away at the T-90. I didn't use the engine in the end, perhaps another time, anyway here it is -

The Strike Gundam wanted a closer look at the workable suspension... :D
Next up - China!

I may build this in the Modern Armor GB if you chaps don't mind and put the finished pix here and over there.

Some really nice footage of a T-90 going through its paces here.

T-90 starts around the 3:00 point.

Cheers

That is one brilliant job on that tank! I love the camo pattern and the weathering is looking just right. Gotta love the Strike Gundam pic! LOL!

Okay, now to go get my passport stamped for China. I'm looking forward to seeing that Chinese tank built. I for one, don't mind that it is done in the Modern Armor Campaign thread.

They also make that Chinese tank in 1/72 scale as well. I may have to pick one up.

That 'red eye' look is really intimidating !!. Great model matey, looking forward to the Chinese contender.

Ian

Thanks a lot guys! Duke are you going to do that digi camo in 1/72?? That will send me :gogo

I don't think so. They would have to include full-hull decals for that! No, I'll follow the KISS method.

Right now, I'll be starting my Japanese Type 10 for the Modern Armor Campaign.

Time to get the suitcase packed for some more travels in what maybe the safest way to travel the world these days...
China was represented by the ZTZ-99A1 -

Here's what Wiki says -
"The K1 is a South Korean main battle tank in use with the Republic of Korea Armed Forces, developed by Hyundai Precision (later Hyundai Rotem). The vehicle's early design work was based on General Dynamics' M1 Abrams, with some noticeable differences including a combined system of hydropneumatic suspension and torsion bars, and a river-crossing fording kit, to meet the required operational capability that was specific to combat operations in the mountainous and swampy terrain of the Korean Peninsula. The K1A1 entered service in 1999, upgraded with a 120mm smoothbore gun, and outfitted with more modern electronics, ballistic computers, and fire control systems developed by Samsung Electronics. Hyundai Rotem produced 1,511 K1 and K1A1 tanks between 1985 and 2010."
