1/700 Sentinel Class US Coast Guard WPC #922

To avoid confusion, I have split the 1/700 Fast Response Cutter project off from the Island class WPB thread.
Once again, Rafael Rivera has begun sending reference pictures that one might not find easily, from his many US Coast Guard contacts.

Along the way, and since each Cutter kit includes some kind of a vessel to aid, inspect or arrest,

A 1/700 Lagoon 42 Catamaran is also in the works.
"Rhiner, what does a Lagoon 42 even look like? You don't even like catamarans."

She honestly looks much like a barge. $625K Caribbean Houseboat? These sail with all the grace of a Coleman cooler. Bobby @sailingdoodles had a catamaran for a while and I noticed he never did sail much. He motored quite a lot. Ho-Hum.
I had a half a handful of 42' racing sloops/canoes and I put 2 of these inaccurate little boats to good (?) use.
On the upside, Lagoon Cat's are roomy, stable, with a shallow draft and popular with less than skilled sailboat skippers.

These sorts of leisure vessels are attractive to all kinds of attractive leisure passengers.
Thanks for looking in!

This casting was supposed to be a "Chopper". A parts donor to the better Sentinel Master to come. She cured all the way before de-mold. :bang head
That's what I get for falling asleep at night!
I hope my boss doesn't find out!

Smooth Cast 322 is a 2 hour de-mold, 4 hour cure liquid polyurethane plastic.
After 2 hours it can be a little flexible, but still has memory. A "chopper". See the bridge chopped off the FRC? She will get her afterdeck passage drilled and sanded as well.
Fully cured LPP sands and paints readily, but when removing larger pour stubs, thinner castings may snap, unless a saw or cut0off wheel is used.

People that buy my models will notice the casting supports have been cut off most of the time. I remove these at the factory before the
4-hour full cure to make the kit easier and more fun to build. Packaging is simplified as well.

The (Teresa's) Lagoon 42' catamaran progresses nicely. I still have a couch to add on the port side and all the windows. This vessel has as many port and windows as an He-111. The wood decking looks pretty cool, but it is 14 scale inches thick. This is why I rarely add aftermarket wood decking to a build, but often add it to a Master.
The bow 'trampoline", roof and helm sunshade will mold and cast as a separate parts. No interior in the main salon (the living room-looking section) will be added.
Thanks again for looking in!

Great! All it needs now is a couple of bathing beauties. Gary S.

It's been done before. Molding, casting and assembling might be advisable first, old friend.

I don't want anyone to think I would forget about the underside of the catamaran. She's framing for a mold before all the windows go on.

Before and after. The white "chopper" FRC Master is on the right.
Drilling the aft superstructure and chopping off the towing bit and engine air intakes simplified the task of shaping the deckhouse. A styrene plug was made and inserted from below, up to the main deck level and glued in. Doing this to the hard, brittle 3D print would have been a cast-iron beotch. LPP is much more tool-friendly.
I know the bridge will cover the flaws on the 01 level, but I filled and sanded them anyway. I did save the bridge roof, for the new, accurate bridge structure.

Next up, correcting the laughable Sentinel class hull profile.
Thanks for looking in!
