1/700 Aircraft. I'm stuck in "Teeny" Gear! Zorn!

Not every modeler has a problem like this one :facepalm
I was dipping the Learjets, and this one came loose. 3D printed Learjets DO NOT float, in Future.
IMG_4399.JPG

Sooo.............I made me a little snake catcher, out of plastic tube and sewing thread, and recovered the Lear :dance
It turns out, it is better to separate the T-2's frameworks, so they don't touch one another after they get dipped. :silly: :blush: Progress so far;

I had an exchange on the Shapeways forum, about the T-2C's brittle landing gear. He tells me he'll increase the size of the gear legs by 30%. I'd think that would be better. :hmmm For these 8 Lil' Buckeyes, it's looking like P/E replacement for the Lot. :bang head
Main's installed on 2 T-2E's

God Bless you, David Hall, wherever you are! :notworthy Replacement Nosewheel on 1 Lil' Buck. I couldn't do the gear doors tonight. I'm not a give-up sort of Guy, however, I'm wondering how much an Airfix 1/24 Typhoon goes for about now! :facepalm :frantic

I'll get some color on them, and everything will be better. Won't it???? :gogo

Remember that foolishness I said about "Not Tonight"?
Main gear doors & nose wheels on 2! :yipee
IMG_4413.JPG

A comparison of P/E Landing gear, and the original, reinforced with a swath of C/A glue. I can't abide a tail-sitter, Even in this scale! :bat I trimmed the main gear doors just a smidge, to get a better fit.
IMG_4414.JPG

Belly pict', Peter Hall's (correction!!) WEM P/E Gear legs, doors, and nose wheels. See the 2 black spots behind the Nose 'gear? :silly: I drilled 2 #74 holes in each Buckeye, and put small pieces of broken drillbit in them for nose weight. I also overdrilled the jet exhausts to reduce tail weight. :gogo :blink
IMG_4417.JPG

NOW! that's for-real, enough for tonight!

A in a special homage for Saul, one of these two first :bang head :bat lil' T-2's gets the markings for VT-23, "The Professionals". Just cuz' :rotf

Well, not an Airfix 1/24 Tiffie, but bigger by a bit! Martin P6M-2 SeaMaster jet flying boats. Masking for Glossy Sea Blue paint job. Pay attention Hip! :smack
IMG_4418.JPG

Good old 6mm Tamiya Tape! :good:
IMG_4419.JPG

I usually shoot Testors PLA enamel Flat Sea Blue for this scheme. Today, we try out Tamiya acrylic X4 Blue. SHINEY! (y)
IMG_4420.JPG

THIS TIME, the white underside didn't peel with the Tamiya masking tape!! :yipee
IMG_4423.JPG

I feel soooooooo much better!!

Mr.Fishbed got him some markings today as well. SNOW DAY!! :pilot I'm waiting for my chineses decal sheet to get here for ID numbers.

Yep. All kinds of cool stuff, in Bitty scale. They sold me a 1/1000 scale 2001 Discovery spaceship, but She's too long to dip, so far. After I deep-sixed the Learjet, I'm gonna put my Future in a wider, shallower, container! Let me know if you need advice about what designers are better than others!

Snowed in! Well, waiting for the Maintainer to come clear the road. He usually gets here aroound 1:00 PM.
I changed up the T-2 nose weight program. Drilling to close #78 holes, and redrilling with a #74 bit makes a slot. A minescule piece of lead can be inserted (Shiny spot, See?!) into the belly of the Jet. :blink

DECAL TIME! I love to decal!! If you want some of these, they are 1/540 Decals from Mark Tutton, at Starfighter Decals. http://www.starfighter-decals.com/54036-uss-oriskany-cva3.html
They rock! They float off easily, and a part of a drop of Solva-set snuggles them right down! If they were out of register, could you tell? Mark makes a lot of cool model stuff! :pilot :good: :notworthy
IMG_4428.JPG

I'm using the proven Drop-of-water-on-the-model-with-the-decal-floating-in-it method! The SeaMasters are getting fictitious Patrol Squadron 44 Markings. :captain
IMG_4429.JPG

The white spoiler panels are old 1/72 letters I chopped up, instead of masking and painting :bang head them on. I'll touch these up, when the Solva-set cures. :zen
IMG_4430.JPG

The Tamiya X4 Blue makes a swell glossy coat for decals. VP-44's Squadron commander's RC-1, and RC-6. The numbers & letters come from an Alliance Models 1/700 Naval Vessel sheet. :captain

You guys know how when you can't find something, and order another one, how you remember where you put the one, and find it? :frantic I ordered 2 more P6M's from Shapeway's designer Kokoda Trail Models, right before I found these, put away, where they belong! :facepalm
Anyhow, the USCG decals My buddy, Carl, at Backaft Models :salute sent me, gave me an inspiration! :zen
1/700 USCG WPG6M-5 CoastMaster! Weather Recon Seaplane! :drool :stinker :drinks
