Took this along to the Armistice Show at Karapiro Lake at the weekend, mentioned to a couple of folks that in all the years I've been building models I have never built a Mk.IX Spitfire. So to remedy this monumental oversight, I've decided to build two simultaneously.

First out of the trap is the Hasegawa one:

With the exception of the Eduard seat belt, what you see here is exactly what comes from the box with nothing at all added. Not too shabby if I say so m'self.

More in a minute...

Managed to squeeze everything together this afternoon:

So this is how it looks before I assault it with filler and various grades of wet'n dry and sanding sticks. To be honest the fit so far isn't too bad, and light-years ahead of the ICM kit which is coming together much more slowly alongside. I'll post some pics of that PITA another time !! :gogo

As ever thanks for taking the time to look and/or comment. Have a great weekend, all.

On the other hand, the Hasegawa kit isn't giving much trouble at all :snoopy

That's two thin coats of Xtracolour 'Ocean Grey' - the underside was previously sprayed with two coats of Med Sea Grey. Next I'll mask the camo pattern and go into the areas that I'll be spraying Dark Green and re-emphasise the pre-shading, just as I've done on the Hurricane.

Got an unscheduled afternoon off (great when that happens :yipee ) So assaulted the Hasegawa Spitfire with some Xtracolour Dark Green. Waited for it to harden in the summer sunshine and 'voila' !

Even if I say so m'self, this is looking good.
