A little more progress on the 1/350 forecastle. I'm starting up forward and working my way aft. I make little progress after work when I cool off. Mostly because my eyes are closed. :rotf:sleep:

My little weather station showing 97 out there with 43% humidity, and that's on the porch in the shade.

YIKE!! I'm sure it isn't just us. It hotter than a dragon's anus all over. In Weatherford TX it's been so damn hot the water supply lines into the homes are dispensing hot water on the cold side.

Early Reliance class WMEC's carried a pair of 26-foot Motor Surf Boats. These differ from regular US Navy 26' motor launches in that they are self-righting and self-bailing. Notice the sheer of the gunwale? Referred to as "Bartender boats" sometimes.

I got started on the conversion.

Then I poured the RTV for Brandon Lowe's 1/350 Caravelle 232 tonight too. 36 grams of RTV. The smallest amount I ever made up!
Thanks for looking in again! And Again!

I had a rough day at work yesterday. Sometimes bathrooms just get me down.

"It's my potty and I'll cry if I want to. Cry if I want to. You would cry too if you couldn't go poo!" :smack:
Anyway.......................

The idea here is to make the deck of the MSB one piece. I used .010 sheet. I wanted to use .015, but I just placed my Artfull Barn order and I lacked the ability to wait.

It's going fairly well. A little more shaving on the inside of the portside gunwale is needed. This is the point at which it would be REALLY easy to completely screw this up. I took a break.

The first casting of Brandon's 1/350 Caravelle Interceptor 232 mold has 17 minutes of pressure pot time to go. No rushing the chemicals!!
Holy Mary, mother of God...................................
Fili-bi-Boni-mi-biskie. Plus tax. (a blessing from the teachings of Cathol)

Thanks again for looking in!

Brandon's Interceptor needs a little more fine tuning, but the mold was a success. He says he wants 24 of these for squadron.com. I think he has overestimated my production capabilities!
The plan is to cast another of this molding, clean up 2 and then make another mold and cast this boat and seats 2 models at a time.

I haven't quite given up on the 1/350 Elco 77-foot PT boat project. 3 More torpedo launchers will go in another mold to go with that boat.
That's all for now. It's time to get ready to pay our respects to our Big Buddy Don.
Thanks.

Work progresses on the 1/350 26' Motor Surf Boat (see the tiny line reel?) for older Reliance class cutters and Mk. II OTH RHI boat for more modern USCG 210's USCGC Active had both Mk. II and Mk. IV OTH boats aboard recently. 1 of each. Parts parts parts parts. :bang head

Bow and stern railings are slowly, tediously, going on Brandon's 1/350 Caravelle Interceptor 232 powerboats. Trimming windscreens and final details for 2 models will go in a new "2.0" mold for Squadron Hobbies consumption if all goes well.
The artwork for packaging and instructions are ready. These are not contract builds so tlarmodels.com will have the final version of these boats available too.

It was good to get back to work after the tribulations of this weekend.
Thanks!

Ever closer grows the 1/350 USCG Mk. II OTH boat. Life ring racks and rings on either side of the stern of the boat?:hmm:
The radar mast folds on the 26' Mk.II boat so she can be launched and recovered from the stern ramps of modern USCG Cutters. See?!

Brandon's 1/350 Interceptor 232 mold RTV is poured with a 0600 de-mold time Monday. The 1/35 desert well Don made and Ronnie Schultz' 1/25 custom taillight are also molded. I take good care of people that do me favors.

Thanks again for looking in!

The "production" models (?!?) of the 1/350 Caravelle Interceptor 232 from the 2.0 dual mold. No too shabby! I waited an extra 24 hours to cast the new molds under the "You can't rush the chemicals" heading.

Don's battered 1/35 desert wishing well. The plaster Master was damaged in mold removal. The resin casting seems a fine facsimile.

In other news, Ronnie Schultz' first taillight, a 1/24 skull shift knob and a scale Spaniel for the fun of it. None of these can be sold for profit, still, You never know what extra goodies will be included in a TLAR Models kit sale!

Other old favorites were cast tonight as well. Torpedoes and Bunnies and critters, Oh MY!
Thanks again for looking in!!

I found a box with a bunch of parts in it. Label said USS Nevada 1/700 scale. I'm going to have to invoke my doctors excuse for memory laps or delirium in buying this thing. WTF am I going to do with this thing?
Guess I need to check TLAR for some Pearl Harbor accessories.

model-monkey.com produces 3d printed mooring quays and a very nice USS Arizona Memorial building. Prices are reasonable. Quality is excellent. Service from NC was swift.

Shapeways offers a 1/700 Ford Island control tower

Blue Ridge Hobbies and Tom's Modelworks also produced very nice resin 1/700 BB-36 waterline kits. I wonder which model you have?

Blue Ridge Hobbies
Can't tell you how many times I tried to figure out where their store is in Greenville. Now I see on their website it's closed and online only. I think that is is BRH kit, I'll look next time I'm out there.

Its this kit
Your 1/700 USS Nevada is a very finely detailed model and very rare as well. I think Midship Models closed in 2009. They made excellent waterline ship model kits and were based in the United States.
