1/32 P-38M "M" for madness

OK, first pics are of the new direction I took. The second is a little different It is a bit harsher in the pics, not so much in person.....Harv

Hi Harv. Please don't get offended .

To me it just looks like a lot of dust has landed on the boob.

Exhaust streaks on a P-38 would look best if sprayed on with an air brush ( very thinned mixture )

If you look at period pictures of P-38's they streak way back to the end in a tapering manner .

Regards, Christian B)

OK Harv . You made me search the internet :soldier

Hope that helps . Cheers, Christian

Yes, but I'm thinking the night missions were very long which means most of the time they flew on Autu lean.

That makes for long nearly white plumes . The amount and recency of some TLC would also play a part.

Both engines don't have to necessarily be the same . All depends on it's health and settings.

Ok all.Took some of your ideas and reluctantly dragged my a$$ out to the garage and cranked up the AB. Took a couple of tries and some whipping off of paint. But here she is. I agree it is better, not so copper color. So let me know, honestly, what you think......Harv

:tomato I'm starting to worry you're gonna start disliking me shortly .

Looking at it from here, the original looks like a shade of rust .

Picture # 1 to me looks similar to Tamiya XF 55 Deck tan .

Exhaust stain vary a lot They usually include some beige color similar to XF 78 wooden deck tan

and if run very lean for long periods it will also look to be a very light gray. Nearly white.

Keep in mind that it winds up being layers of different shades which makes it difficult to give you a formula.

Cheers, Christian B)

It is hard to believe that it has been 6 years, Harv and I am really impressed with how fat this thing has come and it looks to me like a whole bunch of whoop a$$. The exhaust staining is awesome.
