Detail must be your middle name Harv: ya have to love those engine details! :notworthy Awesome work by any standard! :dude

I'm glad my Ju-88 doesn't have that sort of detail: I'd be lost if it had!

Cheers and thanks for sharing! B)

Hi Harv,
looking really good . I expect to hear it cranking really soon.....

Fernao, all you have to do is to spend a few years building your own..HOHOHOHOHO....

Looking forward to see it come together !

Cheers, Christian B)

Any suggestions? Has anyone else had a terrible fit like this? TIA.........Harv

Pretty wicked gaps. I would use shims of plastic stock glued in then crazy glued or puttied over. Hard to tell from the pictures but the biggest problem would be a step. It looks like the left side of the engine nacelle fairing is higher. But that might just be angle. :hmmm

IS there a bend in the wing that needs to be there over the engine? I seem to remember the Lightening had a dihedral inside the nacelles but the outer wings would flatten out.

guess not...

Cut the top wing and shorten it??? Miliput the seam?

Plastic shims. Even if it's a couple of spaced-out tabs they will give the joint the strength it needs to not re-crack. Fill with Milliput- wipe smooth before it dries. Soldier on, Harv!

I have to agree with Chukw as it is too late to add spreader bars (lengths of sprue) to wide the booms to lessen the gap.

Good luck,

irst off, thank all of you for answering. Its great when great minds come together!. OK, started trying a few things and this will work, I think. Nothing glued yet, or even trimmed. But its looking much better, and the streangth of the boom already feels good!. Here ya go, comments welcome.....Harv

Cool Harv. I used to use a pen to mark the curve, but recently tried using a scribe. I got much closer so less sanding and if you want you can just keep scoring until the excess breaks off.

Nice Harv, think you're on the right track. That stock will trim up nicely, get some thinner stock for that little strip toward the aft section, it will be hard to fill with filler.

Looking fine Harv, I know I don't need to tell you to test both booms and the horizontal stab before committing any glue. It does stand proud, great to see her up on her legs.

Hey, Harv I heard from some old timers that a jig was neede on the real thing to get everything aligned correctly. Take care.

Cheers, Christian B)

I"m afraid those guys are no longer with us Harv. WW II is now a long time ago. Sorry. Might consider making something though but in the end it does not have to fly .
