Fokker-E.V.-Scheme-4-280x280.jpg

After finishing the Enterprise, I wasn't sure what to start next. I guess after following MP's triplane post, I decided to get back to my roots,
AIRCRAFT, and build this very old kit. Only one thick gated plastic sprue, lots of photo etch, and nice decals that I hope still works. I keep reading about new research that the wing was not dark green but crudely brushed green and brown upper and purple and light blue under. Still haven't seen any photographic proof yet or documentation. Mabey Saul has some.
Apparently, Jasta 6 was the only unit to operate these and only 3 weeks before the end of the war with only one kill. Gary S.

That looks like the same age as the Eduard Siemens Schuckert D.IIIa I built, kit 8001, which I am certain was their first WW I model. I recommend you go to one of the newer Eduard biplanes before you try this one, I have the Dragon D.VIII and every once in a while I look at the parts, and every time I do my knees get weak when I see that the wing strut are PE.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll check it out and possibly add a layer of plastic or just fabricate one's out of metal using brad nails. Gary S.

This is as good a place for the Fokker joke.
An RAF veteran is giving a talk to a class of school children, and was trying to explain what a typical mission would be like.

"So there I was, escorting the bombers to their target, when out of the blue we were attacked by a bunch of Fokkers. There were about 20 of these Fokkers. One took out my buddy, but I managed to shoot the Fokker down. Then one was on my tail and I coukdn't shake the Fokker, but my pal took care of him. Then I took out two more of the Fokkers..."

The teacher interupts "Children I should explain, the Fokker was a type of figher airplane used by the German Air Force to stop the RAF bombers and their escorts."

"Yes, but these Fokkers were Messerschmitts!"
