These are the later wooden landing gear, not going to use them. using the metal ones but I wanted to try my had with the thick body acrylics for wood grain.

They kinda shiny in the photo but I think it'll be passable for wood? Got to pain up the internal details of the inspection windows on the control lines and pullies then mask it off.

Letting the colors dry and will put a wash down in there.

Wash should tone down a bit to be behind glass. Then I'll mask off and start primer preshade steps.

I'm going to try my hand at some pre shading and giving the ribs some treatment. A bit tedious but at least it's not tracks.

I tried free handing with the thick body acrylics.

Not sure I'm digging it. Swipe of windex could reset it pretty easily. Thoughts?

Well the shape is right....that looks more like a single piece of wood than the layered one. That'll make painting it easier. Right then...Windex coming up!

Yeah not all props were laminated. This was probably 2 parts and then carved.

@moon puppy, as per @jknaus' photo, do NOT forget to dip the tips in very dark chocolate! From the almost black color, I'd say it is over 90% pure cocoa! Just don't buy any chocolate marked "Dutch processing", or "Processes with Alkali" as the process kills all the beneficial flavanols and makes the melted chocolate slightly grainy for dipping. May I suggest Taza 95%?

The laminated prop looks like you are still in German mode The Lewis gun on the top wing on these things never looks to be pointing level so i wonder if they flew nose down a bit ? Incidentally the Lewis gun could fire incendiary bullets which were hugely more effective than std especially against Balloons and Zeppelins etc but couldn't be used with interrupter gear so were always above the prop on the top wing.

I know I said I wanted the PC12 color on this but it's just not feeling right.

I may try something to shift the PC10 more brown.
