How about this picture for inspiration for a vignette/diorama?

Troops of the light tank battalion attached to the Americal Division (post-war it was designated as 23rd Infantry Division) in New Caledonia in late 1942. It's hard to tell if they are doing a repair or a salvage job.

The Academy kit has a full interior if I recall. I'd bet they are doing a repair job, guns are still mounted and covered.

I can see these three guys after the war. Farmer, Mechanic and either a cop or insurance. He carries himself more like a cop.
