Bit of an update, now that (hopefully) it's closed to completion :D

Turret needs a bit more weathering, rear hatches need to be aligned properly, few more bits and pieces and a few touch ups, plus a pin wash.

Thanks for watching,

Liking it so far... any other TABs in the future? Maybe one of the TR series?

Regards,

Thanks Saul, appreciate it.

The photograph you posted brings back some memories. That photo was taken in the days of late December 1989, during the revolution that overthrew the communist regime. They had been in power since 1946, that's 43 years. Ceausescu and his wife ran away in the presidential helicopter, were captured and executed on the 25th of December. Christmas Day that is.

I know that place in Bucharest, have been there myself a few times. There was a massive store there, called ROMARTA COPIILOR - you can see it in the background to the left, ground floor. That was a kids' store, with everything a child would ever need. Huge.

The crowd on the tank is typical of those days. That makes me think the photo was taken on the 21st / 22nd of December. Nobody knew at the time what the army would do under orders from the dictator, everyone was mindful they would never resist an assault from tanks, TAB's (since we are on the topic of a TAB 77), but the army joined the revolution when it was announced that the minister of defence had committed "suicide" He was a four star general, massively respected and loved by the army.

Another symbol of those terrible days, is the flag with the socialist coat of arms cutout from the middle. It was a flag with a hole in it, but very representative of the revolution. Much debate exists about it, it was the only overturn of a communist regime in Eastern Europe where well over 1,000 people lost their lives. Tragically, quite a few of them were due to lack of communications, lack of chain of command and some were blatant murders. Tragic, but that is history.

Back to your question, yes, there are three more Romanian vehicles that I intend to do. A TAB 71 (based on the BTR60 ), a TAB - Zimbru (based on the BTR 80) and also a Romanian built BDRM 2 - 9P148 antitank rocket launcher.

As soon as I get my head around building those, and a Mi-4 helicopter, and an IAR 81 C - I've gone all patriotic lately :D - then I will see about a Romanian tank - TR xx as they were called.

The intention is there, that's for sure.

27 years ago I was witnessing all that which I have just mentioned, praying that my country would be a better place. Now, I am writing these lines from my new country, half a world away......
