i have masks for the insignia thanks Saul, its just camo and colours. I will probably make something up based on some pics as i,m not going to loose sleep over accuracy on things like this.

This looks ok but more green than black/brown. I ordered RLM 75/ 76/ 82 and 70 for starters
@paddy, I asked since I know that the Rutstatz were field modifications done to late war production FW 190A-8 but the additions of scabbed on armor made for some interesting markings.

Perhaps this is TMI but it is what I live for! :yipee: :shark:

One of the units was JG300 Wild Sau and their aircraft's only new paint were the unit and personal markings. Strangely, the Internet yields very few photos but I had bought the extensive (feel free to swap the 't' for a 'p' as well on that word) two volume book set on the unit with lots of nice photos.

Willi Unger of 12./JG 3, based at Barth in May 1944, poses with his Fw 190A-8/R-2, “Yellow 17”, which has been fitted with a single rearward-firing 21cm mortar, or Krebsgerat, for use against enemy bombers.

Hi Saul
Thats fantastic, cant have TMI and like you i love the detail like this that brings the whole thing to life and personalizes what would other wise be just another weapon. You cant beat original pictures :)
I am definitely going for yellow 1 above on the Eduard schematic. I might add a full swastika and bring the armour to the fore but at least now i know where i am heading,

With my photographers hat on i love everything about this photo as well

Thanks again :)

Time for Saul to save the day :) first of many i suspect.

Instructions showing F as RLM 82 but looking grey on the plan view camo

_DSC9437.JPG

Again F shown as an interior grey on the cockpit interior.

A bottle of RLM 82 clearly Green "Hellgrun rlm" or light green rlm

Is it me being thick ?

I am new to German colours, but if Revell are wrong then do the other colours called out like RLM 75 ( with RLM 82) on top and RLM 76 on the under side seem correct...?

But the instructions say F which is Green interior ?
Still getting coffee in me Paddy.
You're right, something wrong with the instructions.

I think early were RLM 02 and later was RLM 66

Thanks Pup
That means non of the colours i bought based on the Revell instructions are correct if i go with IPMS chart and the other interior chart also says RLM66 inside. I have some Tamiya German grey somewhere which will do

Thanks Bob
Subjectively looking at the chart in your link with 6 researchers over 45 years it would be fair to say they no where near agree on any shade but agree on basic colours. So looking at RL:M74 and 75 for example there is no difference between plate 4 of RLM75 and 5 of RLM74
but these are deemed to be the same colour

:) I will go with what looks right and it would be hard for anyone to disprove it :) many thanks for the links

Sorry, spent the day in Philadelphia with my son.

RLM 66 (RAL 7021 Panzer Gray is the same exact color by the way) as the interior. RLM02 was an early interior color. I refer to the Monogram Luftwaffe paint guides as they use color chips matched to what was found during restorations. As for the two colors you questioned, the lighter one seem to match the colors in the book.

Thanks Saul
I ordered another batch of colours yesterday including the desert scheme as i have an idea for a 109 in that scheme

Monitors are one problem with colours as they are all different as well as some scanners used to upload to the monitor. For this reason "if it looks right it probably is right" :) for example i have gone a shade or 2 lighter on the interior grey because once the pit is closed up it will look darker in there because of lack of light that the full size thing would suffer from.

As has been said, cockpit is RLM 66. Just a heads up Eagle cals makes a nice decal sheet for this a/c.

There is a review in modeling news here: https://www.themodellingnews.com/20...92329161.1720960902-610023306.1720960902#more
bottom of page.
I mention the EagleCal because they are rather well researched and I believe their colour callouts can be counted on. If the decals are of no interest you might ask around or email them to ask what colours should be used. Hope this helps some.
