RAF 112 Sqn Kittyhawk

You don't need to change anything - just as it is well.

112 Sqn P-40 is in my plans as well - this units was operated from Malta in June/July 1943 during Operation Husky :)

Great picture, thanks :) It does confirm i have the wrong colour seat so i need to change that to metal finish.
I always like your photography but do you know the link in your Sig is missing the s on the end ? notice its not underlined so you have to add it ?

thanks again for the picture.

Dangit Paddy, I missed another of your updates. I see Hubert got you covered on the mapcase. I wouldn't be too quick on changing the color of the seat, if that's a restored bird I wouldn't trust the color scheme.

I agree about not trusting photographs of a restored aircraft but these images from the P-40E-1 Erection and Maintenance Instructions do hint to a natural metal color.

Note the piano hinge on the map case?

I have one of these as well so this will be great (actually I always say that- I think I have one of everything - obvious sign my stash is too big!)

Ian.

Thanks for the ref pic's :) I went with natural metal as that was what Brett Green went with in his "how to build a P40" book. added a good coating of desert sand as well :)
Sorry i didn't take pictures before i closed it up but its pretty well OTB with a little PE.

The cloth belts worked quite well, they just hang a bit better than PE although you still need to fix them in place with a spot of glue.

I've not been a fan of the colored PE belts Paddy, they just don't drape well. Those belts look fantastic!

Thanks MP, they advise you to roll them into a ball between your palms before you assemble the buckles on to them so they dont look starched which seemed to work :)

Very nice. I particularly like the sand highlights. :popcorn Love the seat belts. Wish there was an equivalent in 1/72 scale.

Cheers, Christian B)

Looking very very good (y) (y) (y) I also had my eyes drawn immediately to the sand and evidence of the harsh conditions. Nicely done.

This is my thinking behind the sand James , a few pictures i turned up in my research :)

I remember standing behind a spitfire when it started up and getting almost cut to pieces by flying grass cuttings :) just imagine standing behind one of these starting up in the sand !

Trailing edge on this kit needs some work

It will also need a spreader to close the wing gap up a bit but overall its really quite a nice kit so far.

I hope the tail section goes on well and lines up :)

Judging by the fit against the fuselage the top wing half is large rather than the bottom small so trim it back, sand the profile back, and thin it out a bit i suppose.

It's looking good Paddy. It seems to me they should be able to make a better trailing edge in this scale.

Cheers, Christian B)
